This issue was happening to me with version 10.3.3.
I’ve rolled back to version 10.0.8 for now, which fixes it.
Has this been broken ever since version 10.0.9, or did the issue go away and then come back?
Please let us know when it’s fixed!

Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Classic Widgets] Shortcodes no longer working in sidebarIt works!
Thank you so much, @properlypurple !!
I’ve looked at quite a few plugins.
So far, I’ve not found a free one that is as good as BackWPup ‘used to be’.
Obviously, one with less features, that works, is better than a feature rich option that doesn’t.
The paid options seem too expensive for what they are.
Is your issue the same as mine jschmidtsbss?
Support seemed to think that I was the only one with this problem.
I haven’t tried a different app yet.
I keep hoping that BackWPup will start working again.
However, the problem has probably gone on for too long and I just need to give up on BackWPup. It seem such a shame after so many years of working perfectly.
It’s very much not resolved.
All of my domains are now having problems with BackWPup.
I’ve gone from being very happy with BackWPup, for years, to looking for an alternative plugin. I’d much rather stay with BackWPup, but there seems to be no solution to this problem that’s affecting all of my sites.
I’m now getting this problem with all of my WordPress installs!
They have been working fine, with BackWPup for years, but now, every one of them is broken.
Is there any sign of a fix, or do I need to start using a different plugin?
Thanks,
DamianAny update on this?
It’s affecting 6 of my WordPress installs now!
All of my BackWPup backups happen in the middle of the night, and the different websites backup on different days of the week.
There shouldn’t be anything going on with Dropbox other than the single BackWPup process of one website.
Thanks for getting back to me, but that doesn’t seem to have changed anything.
I now have 4 different websites that are all having this issue (after running BackWPup for years, and never seeing this issue).
I just made the changes that you suggested, to the first domain that gave me the problem, last week. I then ran the job manually and the issue was just the same again.
What should I do next?
Thanks,
DamianMore and more of my sites are having this problem.
What’s going on?OK, that didn’t really work out.
My original line 411 looked like this …
$success = $dom->loadXML( file_get_contents( $job_object->steps_data[ $job_object->step_working ][‘wpexportfile’] ) );
After I changed it, when I clicked on ‘jobs’ in BackWPup, the screen just went blank. I tried clicking on that dashboard (which worked), then back to ‘jobs’, and it was just blank again.
So, I switched the line back to the original. Now the screen is working again.
No change with the bug in the plugin obviously, as effectively nothing’s changed.
Any more ideas?
Thanks,
DamianHi Brandon,
Sorry for the slow reply to your question from the 1st August. I have been away.
The site has very few pages and posts.
However, it is a WooCommerce site, with a hand full of products available.
Maybe that’s causing the problem?Hi,
I’ve just left a review and rating.
For you information in debugging the problem, ALL of my WordPress sites have the same hosting. There’s only one of them that’s having this problem with the backup.
That worked!
Any idea why? I’d like to have everything backing up. Why is XML breaking it?
