Is there currently a setting to make my header click to the home page? or will that be added as well?

    thanks for answering.

many wp themes have an option to “hide” site title. it’s usually a small checkbox right beneath where you enter the site title.

I do not want a site title to show on my site, since i have a banner header with my site title on it. HOWEVER, with this theme – if you do not have a site title, then no site title appears on the internet tab.

To be more clear – if my site is named welcometoxyz.com, and i have “WELCOME TO XYZ” in the site title, then “WELCOME TO XZY” will appear both at the top of my webpage and on the internet/safari tab (just under the address bar).

If I leave “site title” blank, then “WELCOME TO XYZ” does not appear at the top of my webpage. (This is the way I want my site to look, with no site title since my header has my site title on it.) HOWEVER, when I leave that blank, the internet/safari tab will then reads “welcometoxyz.com”, and not “Welcome to XYZ”.

WHAT I WOULD PREFER: I would like my internet/safari tab to say “Welcome to XYZ” but I’d like the option to NOT have that at the top of my webpage.

I know this is an option I’ve had with other themes.

    Thanks for your help!

Fixed! Apparently this was a problem with my [new] computer. Went back to my old computer and loading a header worked with no problem.

Want to quickly say this is an AWESOME community and I really appreciate that any time I ask a question someone always has a quick answer. Thank you all so much!

Yes i have unlimited space with hostgator. also, i can upload images just fine in the background/within a post. it just doesnt seem to work on the header.

i was wondering if the twenty twelve theme isnt really built for a header?

Well, How about that, I figured it out!

I will post my resolution here in case anyone else is ever looking for it.

I added a new PAGE, which I simply called HELLO.

I put the information that I wanted on it. I chose the “NO SIDEBAR” option.

    I went to SETTINGS, READING.

I checked STATIC PAGE, FRONT PAGE and chose HELLO from the drop down menu.

This then makes my HOME page show up as my HELLO page.

**Note: I previously tried this but instead of choosing FRONT PAGE, I inadvertantly chose POSTS PAGE. This duplicated my Home page.

Also, one of the above responders may have answered my question, but I just may have not understood it (hazards of not being well versed in wordpress!)

    Thanks for everyone’s help!

I really like that I didn’t have to make a home page – the last time i used wordpress was about two years ago and there seems to have been some really great changes. And I like that the Home page shows my most recent post too. I just wish I could get rid of that side bar. Oh well. Thanks for the info, I really appreciate it!

Thanks for the info but this does not answer my question.

I would like my “Home” page (which I did not create but was automatically there) to be my static page. No comments, no sidebar, just information about my site that shows up upon people accessing my site.

When I go to settings and choose “static page”, I am not given the choice of “Home”, I am only able to choose one of the pages I created.

There seems to be no way to change the settings for the “home” page, which displays only posts that I’ve made. (which will be only one post nonetheless).

I would like to get rid of the sidebar, and cannot find the settings area to do this, as HOME does not show up as a PAGE, but rather a POST.

Thanks for replying but I’m really looking for a solution that will be permanent and will last through any updates. I guess I should ask for help writing custom css. ?

    Thread Starter DalesWife

    (@daleswife)

I’m just seeing that you were kind enough to reply and try to help me. No, there is no custom CSS – I set this site up quite a bit ago and my memory is not so great but I believe I DID edit them files. ?? I’ve since learned that is not a good thing to do.

Should I find this code within the theme files, edit it to suit my needs, then paste into CSS?

I have no idea what a child theme is. I did use custom CSS within a plug-in called TablePress and it seemed pretty straightforward after some pretty awesome help right here on this site.

My site is nicenormalfamily.com and I’m using 3.5.1.
The theme I use is zbench, but the developer seems to have stopped answering questions about the theme.

I have narrowed down that the mobile theme is definitely not some other plug-in, it’s definitely coming from JetPack.

I looked at the Responsive Tables Extension but from what I see that provides for a static left column only, and does not leave the header column static. Is this correct?

Or does Responsive Tables have an option to have two static areas – leaving both the left column and the header un-moveable?

Great! Thank you so very much!

Is there a code to cover ALL tables or must they be listed separately?

    THANKS AGAIN!

    (@daleswife)

Ugh. My apologies… All that data looked like a table before I hit “post”. Somehow it became a mess of words and numbers rather than the table it looked like. Hope the point is still there.

WONDERFUL! Worked like a dream! Thank you so, so much! You have been completely AWESOME in helping me, and I really, really appreciate it.

I have another question but I’ll start another thread so that others can find it if they search for the same question.

    Thanks again.
