  • Allan,

It would probably be a good idea for you to post the URL of your site.

Anyone who helps you will need that information.

You would probably get more of a response if you posted your message in the How-To and Troubleshooting forum.

    Sir Thomas,

This version of your site is an improvement over the previous version.

I like the site, but it is bit too “black and white.” Perhaps you can change some text to something other than black.

I started out using the LightWord theme, but the theme had an upgrade, and I had formatting problems after that, so I switched to another theme.

If you make more changes, please post another message.

    @t-p,

I appreciate your responding to my post, but I don’t think you understand the situation.

It’s great that you want to help, and it’s obvious that you enjoy doing so, but the replies I’ve seen to a number of your posts appear to me as if you used some standard set of pre-written paragraphs and you didn’t take the time to READ what the person had to say, and LET THE INFORMATION SINK IN.

Several persons in this forum have posted messages concerning the fact that they have been experiencing problems ever since they upgraded to WP 3.0.2.

All they did was upgrade to WP 3.0.2. They didn’t do anything else.

When logging into their dashboard on November 30, 2010, there was a message stating that there was a mandatory upgrade to WP 3.0.2. All they did was click the upgrade button.

Please continue to help people who post questions in this forum, but please read their questions, think about what they wrote, and then post a non-pre-written reply. Thank you.

    ndboeckel,

Why don’t you create a new page for your affiliate codes and banners?

I did that on a blog site I created for a friend:

You haven’t created a blog using your new theme. All that’s at the URL appears to be an example of what the theme looks like.

You appear to be selling the theme.

The extra “Home” page shows as a child of “About” when you hover over “About” because your changes in the settings caused that to happen

I saw all the columns, but I also saw the errors messages I posted in my last message.

I’m sorry, but I can’t try to help you any more. I took the time to tell you about errors messages I saw on your site, and you didn’t even comment about that in your most recent post.

    Jim,

I did a “View Source” on your code and found this:

    <div id="menu1"><ul id="rmenu2" class="clearfix rMenu-hor rMenu">
    <li class="page_item current_page_item"><a href="https://www.jimberry.org/blog/" title="The View from Inverloch">Home</a></li>
    <li><a href="https://www.jimberry.org/blog/?page_id=29" >Home</a></li>
    <li><a href="https://www.jimberry.org/blog/?page_id=31" >Fishing</a></li>
    <li><a href="https://www.jimberry.org/blog/?page_id=52" >Flowers of Western Australia</a></li>
    <li><a href="https://www.jimberry.org/blog/?page_id=2" >About</a></li>
    </ul></div>

The code in the unordered list has two entries for your Home page. The first list item for “Home” <li> is probably the one that you want to delete since that list item doesn’t have a Permalink.

    I hope this helps.

    Levent,

I like the basic design of your site, but I have a few suggestions.

I’d like to see a header at the top of the page, something that announces who you are or that says the site is your personal blog.

I agree with like_a_bauss about your use of the color blue. The blue you’ve selected isn’t particularly easy to read. A much darker blue or another dark color would be better. The blue text on the blue background is especially problematic.

You could try #00008B (DarkBlue), #191970 (MidnightBlue), #483D8B (DarkSlateBlue), or #000080 (Navy) for your text.

If you want to keep the blue background, you could try #F0F8FF (AliceBlue).

Are there a lot of other sites that link to your new site?

The Google sandbox effect sometimes occurs when a new Web site has links to it from many other sites.

If there are a lot of links to your site, perhaps you could try reducing that number.
