  • I just took a look at the site.

What’s got me confused is that the site’s URL is 2010.hth.org, but all pages except the main page have a URL beginning with hth.org/2010.

    guguwpblog,

Can you please explain what you were expecting to see?

Also, to what are you referring when you say there are no “outlines?”

And what do you mean by “block?”

I didn’t see anything wrong with your screenshot. All you have to do is type your post in the large white area that’s seen in your screenshot. Then, save your draft and preview it.

    Golda,

The Twenty Ten theme works very well for your blog. I like the changes you made.

    Tekuan,

I like the new header very much.

I still see a narrow column running down the middle of the screen. In some cases, it’s three narrow columns.

The “Headlines” box doesn’t have any content at all.

Why don’t you post a question in the “How-To and Trougleshooting” forum? Ask the members to look at your site in various browsers and tell you what they see.

What theme are you using? Maybe there’s a problem with the code.

What’s often suggested when there’s a problem is to change your theme to the Twenty Ten default theme and deactivate all plugins. Have you tried that?

    duck_boy,

I’m not certain what you mean by “call,” but this information should be available when you click on “plugins” in your dashboard.

When I’m logged into my dashboard, I can see which plugins have been activated in the site I created.

    flgirl,

I clicked on the link you provided and got a “page not found” error message.

Can you please post the correct URL?

Also, members of this forum live in all parts of the world, not just in the United States. You might want to explain what the term community means in the context in which you’re using it.

The concept of a housing tract being called a community is not world-wide. (The concept of a housing tract is also not world-wide.)

    DonnaMom,

Can you please provide the URL of your blog?

Th blog I created for a friend, Angry White Male, is also hosted by Network Solutions. Basically, all that Network Solutions is doing — and all that you paid them to do — is provide blog hosting services.

Questions regarding using WordPress can be posted in this forum. Documentation for various WP features can be found on www.remarpro.com.

I’m sorry, but I haven’t heard of inviting and listing followers on a blog. Don’t blogs have subscribers and social networking sites have followers?

What, exactly, are you trying to do? What is it that you want to know?

    tctc,

Can you please provide the URL of your site? Thank you.

    Kat7,

I’m sorry, but I’m not sure I understand what your question is.

Can you please provide a URL? And can you explain in more detail what you want to do?

Are you asking a WordPress question or an HTML question?

    Mike,

I just clicked on the link you provided. I’m sorry, but the site didn’t load and my IE8 froze up.

I just took a look at your site, and I have a few suggestions.

    • Correct the spelling of WordPress. It should have an uppercase “W” and an uppercase “P.”
    • The moving row of premium themes moves too quickly. It makes me dizzy. Can you slow down the movement so visitors to your site have time to look at the images?
    • The images throughout the site are too close together. Having more white space between the images would make everything easier to see.

    x-tra,

I lived in Sweden for six months a few years ago, so I know that English is spoken by many persons in Scandinavia. It’s the language that a person in Denmark would use to communicate with someone in Sweden, for example. Although one might speak English well, writing in English is not as easy if it’s not your first language. You’ve done a great job. All you have to do is proofread your text before you upload it.

I don’t have the exact link for it, but I know there is documentation regarding “pretty URL” permalinks on www.remarpro.com.

I found the US flag banner I used for the blog header while searching for public domain free images. It was already sized correctly for the Twenty Ten theme, so I didn’t have to do anything except save it and then insert it into the correct file.

    x-tra,

It’s impressive that you created a site in English rather than in Danish. You might, however, want to run your text through a spell checker.

Serif fonts are difficult to read if used for more than a few words. You might want to consider changing your font to a sans-serif font.

Your site would look more professional if your changed the permalinks to “pretty URLs” rather than use the not-so-pretty default URLs.

I like your banner image, but it doesn’t have anything to do with the subject of your site. I would change the image to something more “technical” or perhaps use a Danish flag banner. (I used a US flag banner on the site I created for a friend, Angry White Male.)

    sdeep27,

    I have a few suggestions.

    • Change the background color of your site. It looks like pale pink when viewed in IE8.
    • The blue color you used for the links is too light. Change it to a darker blue — or another dark color.
    • The white text with the blue background is difficult to read.
    • Change the font from a serif font to a sans-serif font. Serif fonts are difficult to read when used for more than a few words.

    QuakeFitness,

I like the premise of your site. I would have liked, however, to see some original writing on your main page — not just links to articles on other sites.

Perhaps you can add a sentence or two introducing each article — telling what the article is about and in which magazine it was featured.

You have some great photos on your site, but you might want to consider reducing their size. Your 575 x 378 pixel jpegs are a bit overpowering. If you want visitors to your site to read the text, smaller images might be a good idea.
