@eibhlin and all those who are facing the following error
“unable to create directory XXX is it a parent directory writable by server ?”

i fixed it using the following solution,
NO NEED FOR ANY CHMOD to 777
just edit the store uploads directory in settings>miscellaneous to the default value (shown there)

change in settings>>misc. change store path URL to wp-content/uploads. leave full url path blank.

I GOT IT WORKING, FINALLY !!!

thanks to some guys who have posted here.
i tried every method listed here, CHMOD, and changing blog address from https://www.domain.com to http//domain.com didnt help me

what worked for me was, i changed store URL to wp-content/uploads it was something like home/bogee/...../wp-content/uploads after the upgrade to WP 2.7. i left Full URL path blank itself.

i upgraded to wordpress 2.7 and me too have same problem, error message i get is,

Unable to create directory /home/.boogee/cyriac/cyriac.me/wp-content/uploads/2008/12. Is its parent directory writable by the server?
