I can make the edits myself, but if the plugin doesn’t provide a way to customize it then my changes will just be overwritten the next time the plugin is updated. ??

Any news when an official fix will be released? This is not the first time a jetpack update has rendered my site unusable. Jetpack is the absolute worst. I hate that so much relies on it!

I apologize for opening this. The problem seemed to be caused by a plugin compatibility. I was able to get Site-Kit to complete the onboarding experience after disabling all other plugins on my site. Not sure which plugin was the culprit. Though it might have been all-in-one-wp-security-and-firewall.

But I can confirm that as of 1.7.1 the dashboard widget was shown to anyone that had Contributor, Author, or Editor status. I found out about this because one of my blog’s contributors (Contributor level) was able to see the widgets, click on Search, and the see my credentials (because I am logging GET & POST variables). When they sent me a screen shot with my credentials right then and there I became a bit alarmed. ??

But all that’s moot now since the latest version is 1.7.4.

Only problem is your bug report form doesn’t work.

Outbound Email is disabled for security reasons on my server.

The supported method for generating strong random numbers is mcrypt_create_iv().

Is that worth looking into?
