In reply to: [Workbox Video from Vimeo & Youtube Plugin] HTML in DescriptionsThanks for the reply. It must be something conflicting with other plugins — I do have TinyMCE Advanced installed, so maybe it’s that. I’ll keep my eye on it, then; just figured if it was a universal problem, I should point it out.
Thanks,
– C.Thank for the response! I’ll have to implement this the next time I log back into that website.
Out of curiosity, if this feature has to be hardcoded in, why is there a checkbox option for it in the plugin’s settings? Isn’t that counter-intuitive?
Thanks,
– C.Oh, there it is! Ha, thank you. ??

ps. How do I remove the broken submission? I’m not seeing an “edit” option for my original post anymore. :\

In reply to: [WP-Filebase Download Manager] Cheatin' uh? [wp 3.5.1, filebase 0.2.9.34]Sorry for the delay. I was finally able to upgrade some of my sites to 2.9.25 and the issue appears resolved for me too. Thank you!
That does help a lot, thank you!
I just noticed today that I’m receiving similar errors when trying to upload files to the media manager, so it MUST be how I reinstalled the site.
Figures… as soon as one hole is fixed, I just dig another one! I think since my errors aren’t Duplicator’s fault, I’ll try to handle this on my own and check other resources.
I really appreciate your help! My faith in my favorite plugin has been completely restored. ??
This portion of my problem is resolved I believe, yes. Thank you!
Thank you! ?? Almost there… just one last bug to fix!
Status Update:
I contacted my webhost and he confirmed all the folders and files had the correct permissions, so no luck there.
He had mentioned that within the past couple weeks that their server’s open_basedir setting had been updated to not allow PHP scripts to call outside the base directory of a website (for example, to access a /tmp directory). Could this potentially be the cause of the errors I’m receiving?
I had no trouble running Duplicator before those settings changed, so I think that’s a good indication. I’ve also installed other backup software and had the same issues as here, so I know it’s not JUST this plugin I’m having issues with…
Thanks,
– C.There was no real issue.
After I went through the entire re-install and got everything up, I also had a gut feeling telling me the same thing you just said… Jeez. Sometimes being a web programmer is the pits!!
@esmi — All of the permissions were set correctly to 644, so I’m confused as to why my webhost is indicating it’s “open to the whole world to write to” just because Apache is the user that created them. But I’m not a MySQL expert, so it’s hard to argue!
@LifeInTheGrid —
Thank you SO much for replying with such a detailed answer! I feel a lot better about having used your plugin and continue to do so.The site was updated to WordPress 3.5.1, but there were a handful of out-of-date plugins (can’t go one day without something needing updating…), so that’s a possibility. All the permissions appear to have been set to the correct 755 (folders) and 644 (files) settings. I had a lot of stuff setup right, but it must not have been strong enough.
The link to WordPress’ codex about hardening WP looks like a fantastic resource. I’ll make sure to incorporate all of those techniques into future updates. I just have that feeling in this case, it was a user account’s medium-strength password that did me in. But we’ll never know for sure, of course. ??
I’ll keep plugging at it. Thanks so much for both of your help!
– C.
Hi LifeInTheGrid,
The check is currently made with this internal php function is_writeable This will also become an issue for other plugins as this is a very common PHP call.
You were right… I just tested the contact form 7 I have on the site, and I’m having a very similar issue with the PHP not working properly, sigh!
I’ll contact my webhost like you suggested. I’m near positive it’s because I manually uploaded the website this time instead of using Duplicator. ??
Thanks for your help and recommendation,
– C.So if I understand correctly, it’s the way the webhost is configured, not the way the plugin works?
Or rather, Duplicator may work this way only on this webhost, but potentially not on my others?
Thanks for your super fast response, Esmi!

In reply to: [WP-Filebase Download Manager] Cheatin' uh? [wp 3.5.1, filebase 0.2.9.34]I never realized there were older versions on that tab! That’s so cool! Thank you, Adam! ??
No problem! As long as the customer is happy we’re all happy, right? ??
