@jordesign That sounds like a great suggestion. I will check out that plugin! I’ve heard of it before and have known about this capability to conveniently turn off plugins and themes, but hadn’t considered it for this specific site or problem. Thanks!
Thanks for the fast response. I already went to the Email Alert Preferences. The only thing I see regarding frequency is “Maximum email alerts to send per hour”. This is not helpful, because I’m trying to limit these emails to once per week, and “1/168” is not something I can type into that field.
Using version 7.3
WordPress version is 6.1Enable GDPR Opt-In made my problem go away. Thank you. Resolved!

In reply to: Post Titles and Excerpts Do Not MatchSorry about this. Upon doing further research, I have been reminded that there is a feature called “Excerpts” in which an Administrator can give a Post a custom excerpt. This was a feature that I have always ignored, until now.
It turns out, in 100% of the cases in which the Post excerpt does not match the Post’s content, a custom Excerpt was being used. I deleted all of the text in the Excerpt field, and the problem is now gone. This problem is SOLVED.

In reply to: Post Titles and Excerpts Do Not MatchThanks for the flow chart. I turned off/on plugins with no effect. I’m currently using OceanWP as my site Theme. I tested a few simpler Themes- some of them, such as Twenty Fifteen and Twenty Seventeen, made this problem go away entirely (i.e. excerpts for Posts always match the actual content) and some of them, such as Twenty Twenty-One, still allow incorrect excerpts to display.
Getting rid of the current Theme will not be on the table, until about a year from now, when the website needs to be re-designed. A great deal of customization and effort has been put into the site’s current Theme, so I will attempt to see what is causing some Themes to cause this WordPress feature to work differently.
I’m not sure what “modify the incorrect excerpts” means.
In the page that displays all of a Category’s Posts, everything is generated automatically, including the excerpts, so there is nothing to edit.Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: Themes Update Automatically. How To Turn This Off?OK, I installed the Easy Updates Manager plugin, in hopes that my Theme won’t update automatically- it will only update when I tell it to. I think that’s all the progress we’re gonna make on this thread. Your input has been appreciated. Thanks.

In reply to: Themes Update Automatically. How To Turn This Off?This is what I see. There is no “disable auto-updates” link.

In reply to: Can’t Make New Posts “Publishing Failed”I’m not so sure that it’s custom- “Day and Name” is one of the out-of-the-box settings, I did not select “Custom Structure”. I did look at the Using Permalinks page, but there wasn’t anything in there that connects to our problem- nothing about publishing failed for JSON errors.

In reply to: Changing Theme Resulted In Critical Error. How To Change Back? Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll just put in here what I sent my supervisor (who then condensed it and sent it to our clients):
In an attempt to do some troubleshooting, I set the WordPress Theme to the default Theme. That’s when the site failed. No pages were accessible, not even the Dashboard.
I changed the name of the directory of the Theme we ordinarily use for the website.
I still couldn’t get to the Dashboard.
I asked for help on the WordPress forums.
I changed the name of the default WordPress Theme.
Parts of the Dashboard were accessible, other parts were not (still couldn’t access the option to change Themes in the Dashboard). It appeared that WordPress simply reverts to another default Theme when you disable its first default Theme.
I changed the name of all of the plugin directories. No effect. I changed them back.
I changed the name of ALL the Theme directories.
I got access to the Dashboard again.
I used WordPress Dashboard to add new Theme “Twenty Thirteen” and activate it. Unsurprisingly, website looked funny, but didn’t care, just needed access to the Dashboard again. I got access to the Dashboard.
I changed names of theme directories back to default names.
I changed back to Theme were were using before this mess started.Resolved!
Yeah, I changed the FROM address so that it matches the gmail account. We have 1100 subscribers, and the Sent Email records shows that the last email was sent to only 206 users. The completed column reads 206. What could be causing that?
Yeah, I’ve already got WP Mail SMTP plugin installed. I connected to to a gmail account, and I did successfully send a test email through WP Mail SMTP (and THAT email will send to any email address, including military addresses! weird). Yeah, did that weeks ago. Maybe there’s some other step I’m missing?
Yes, I did change the “From” email address to be identical the domain of the website.
A plugin to have WordPress send all its email through a relay server? You have my interest- what plugin is it?
