In reply to: [Backup and Restore WordPress - Backup Plugin] restoring back upGreat question. The one click restore requires a working WordPress site to perform the restore. If you are unable to login to your site then I would suggest creating a new one where you can use your backups to restore the old site. We do not restore any of the wordpress core files so the functions.php file will not be restored.
Please make sure that you have all your backups downloaded before you attempt to create the new site. Some hosts may require you to remove the old one first but if you have your backups then you have all that is needed to restore your site to the new install.
Once the new site is available, install and activate WP BackItUp. Once activated you can upload your backups and perform the restore.

ChrisFrom the post I cant tell if those are from WP BackItUp. However, the plugin does post a request to the server every few seconds during a backup to check the status of the backup. WordPress core does something very similar to determine if a user is logged into the dashboard . Hope that helps.

All the files outside the wp-content root are WordPress core files and can be dowloaded from www.remarpro.com or are provider by your host as part of their install.

If your host doesn’t allow this then you will not be able to perform backups or restores. You may need to adjust your permissions on the wp-content folder.

In reply to: [Backup and Restore WordPress - Backup Plugin] Single Sites on MultisiteI have not tested it with multisite but I just read through the wordpress docs on multi-site and didn’t see anything that I thought might cause an issue. I am working on my next release now but when I am done I will test with a multisite wordpress install and let you know for sure.

It sounds like something happened during the update. I would suggest removing the plugin manually and then installing again. This can be done by deleting the wp-backitup plugin folder using FTP or cpanel. The plugin folder can be found at the following location:\wp-content\plugins\wp-backitup
Your backups are not contained in this folder so when you install WP BackItUp again, all your backups will be available.
