ChrisHi @mwarbinek,
If your backups are running successfully then it is an issue with that notification. Did your last backup run without any errors?Chris

In reply to: [Backup and Restore WordPress - Backup Plugin] Parse error after updateThanks for the update @rfergusn. This issue was reported last week and we resolved it quickly but as you found removing via ftp and reinstalling the latest version is the best way to handle it. We are offering to fix this for any customer that reports it but glad to hear you got it resolved.
Thanks!

In reply to: [Backup and Restore WordPress - Backup Plugin] Good supportWe would need research further to determine the exact cause but I am sure we could resolve it regardless. I am not sure how hostgator manages sites but some hosts do not allow customers to modify the WordPress Address (URL) and Site Address (URL) on their sites. These options can be found in the WordPress general settings. When hosts restrict this option they provide another mechanism to maintain it outside of WordPress. And when they do this we sometimes see the 207 error mentioned above. I am not sure if this is happening with your host so we would actually need to do a little more research to figure out what happened.
We do our best to make the restores as easy as possible but there are just so many versions of WordPress and so many hosting providers available, sometimes it does take some intervention on our part to help get your site restored. I suspect this is the case with all restorations, no matter what plugin you chose.
My apologies again for not being available last night but we are available now so just let us know if there is anything else we can do to help.

In reply to: [Backup and Restore WordPress - Backup Plugin] Good supportHi @sylvysinclair,
Sorry to hear about the issues with your site. Error 207 means the restore was unable to determine the URL for your site so suspect your hosting provider is managing your URL outside of the normal way it is done. I have asked my support team to reach out to you this morning and hope we can help.I do apologize for the delay but we are a small team and not able to offer 24×7 support at this time.

Hi again @mwarbinek,
I am not sure I am following your issue with the .db file. If you open it up you should see all the SQL needed to restore your database. If you are unable to upload it because of the extension then try renaming the extension to .sql. If there is an issue with the SQL statements contained in the file then let me know.My comments about the wp-config.php and .htaccess were based on my assumption that you are trying to migrate your site to a new host. Many of my customers use WPBackItUp to move their site to a new host so I assumed that’s what you were doing. Replacing a wp-config.php and .htaccess files when moving from one host to another would be a bad idea. But if you are restoring your site on the same host then you are correct, replacing the .htaccess and wp-config.php should be fine.
I don’t include them in the backup now but could add them in the next release if you would like. I actually had another request for this recently so was planning to add it anyway.
Hope that helps!
ChrisHi @mwarbinek,
The reason we break up the backups into so many files is to support the many WordPress hosting environments out there. Many are very restrictive with resources so over the years we have had to add configuration options so that WPBackItUp will continue to work even with the very inexpensive hosting providers. We break each portion of the backup process into small workloads driven by these configuration settings and the result are many small files vs 1 large one. However, if you have an environment with lots of resources then you can change these configuration settings to minimize the number of files generated. Just keep increasing your settings until you receive an error, then back it down to the previous setting.
Additionally, there are settings that allow you to combine both SQL and zip files into a single file but please note these may not work with hosting providers that severely limit memory and processing time.
As for the root files, wp-config and .htaccess. These are very specific to each install so we don’t restore them. I suppose we could back them up for you for reference and manual installs but if we were to replace these files during a one-click restore then its quite possible your site would cease to function, so we do not replace these files currently.
Hope that helps and let me know if you have any additional questions!
Chris@rouchos sorry to hear you are having such difficulty. We have more than 20k customers using wpbackitup daily so I find it very unlikely that wpbackitup would do this to your site. We run wpbackitup on our site as well so if this kind of issue existed it would impact wpbackitup.com as well. I suspect that your site was hacked or someone maliciously deleted your root folder. The folders you are seeing are likely the temporary ones we create to contain your backups.
With that said, I do understand that this type of issue can be very stressful. The good news is that if the backups still exist in the folders you mentioned then it may be possible to restore your site.
If you would like my team to take a look at your site then we would be happy to review and provide some guidance. If you would like to proceed then please create a ticket on support.wpbackitup.com. To review we will need ftp access info which should not be posted to this public forum.
thanks
chrisI am not sure I completely understand how that would work but we don’t offer that option now. All of your posts are stored in a database table so in theory we could backup individual posts.
Are you trying to migrate just some of your posts to a new WordPress site?
