I’d first try to squish the validation errors. That might be some of your problem.

If you’ve got more money to spend, I heartily recommend Servint’s VPS. They’re incredibly helpful and have saved my bacon loads of times I’ve managed to do something really daft. The service is great and you get email, forum and telephone support.

I do love that particular quote. One reason why I prefer hosting my own is that I can backup my site easily. But I can see the attraction of a simpler set up which would let you focus on the writing – which is the point of a blog afterall.

Why the change? Well – I really like Drupal – it’s a solid CMS with a ton of features and you can do almost anything with it.

However – I ended up spending more time mucking with the site (grappling with modules, themes and sorting out taxonomy) than actually writing. And as a born procrastinator, that’s not a good thing!

With WordPress it’s much easier to skin and add blog type content and the admin side seems much easier for me to use.

Thanks for that – it’s really speeded up my site.
