Thanks Jake. I had tried your suggestion prior to posting but to no avail. I came to the conclusion a few days ago after posting this that the theme would need to be updated and I’ve spent most of the last few days rebuilding the child theme after updating to Jobify 3.0. Whoever built the original site did a poor job of placing customizations in the child theme itself so it was a project…but now it’s done. Thanks again for your time.

Tracked it down finally. In addition to job-application.php in the WP Job Manager plugin itself, the Jobify theme contains the same file. Had to override it there for it to take and for obvious reasons I’ll be adding it to the child theme to prevent future breakage.

    Thanks again @richardmtl and @hastibe!

After doing some more digging it appears to be a two part problem. First, they were overriding job-application.php per this instruction (I’m assuming): https://wpjobmanager.com/document/customising-job-application-process/#section-5

I’m also assuming they updated WP Job Manager and lost that override.

When I make that change to job-applicatin.php on the test site I setup, I can get the external url links working instead of the basic job application form, however, only using an alternate theme, not the main site theme. So that’s problem number 2…which takes me to @richardmtl first suggestion and more digging. Thanks for the help and suggestions.

    Hi Richard,

The site is hosted on WPEngine and yes, I was able to copy it to another environment for testing purposes. Unfortunately changing themes does not change the behavior.

The site is using the Applications add-on for WP Job Manager and since I’m new to working on it I’m not even sure what the expected behavior is supposed to be other than what the client has reported, i.e. that jobs with an external URL put into the Application email/URL: field should go to that URL and not have the submission form pop up…but I haven’t been able to confirm that this is even supported by the plugin.
