Any update on this? It doesn’t seem feasible to be restricting with HTTP referrer = *.googleapis.com/* – essentially anyone could take my API key and use it to request from YouTube API….

Can you try turning on debug in your wp-config.php file?

Edit the file and ensure that you have this:
