  • I was going nuts until I found this thread. I had created test users with author, editor, and admin roles and in all cases embed code dissappeared. I had already tried user roles plugin, and editing functions.php to allow unfiltered html to authors to no avail.

Since I have a video sharing site with multiple authors, I need to deactivate the multi-user network but leave the permalink structure with siteurl/blog/… intact. Not sure everything I need to do so that when the times come I can re-activate the multi-user network.

I suppose as long as I keep my mofified wp-config and .htaccess files when I swap them out with the original files, I can restore, and that I just need to make sue that Category Base and Tag Base are set to /blog in permalink stucture after I dectivate the network.

Anything else I should be concerned with? How will I know when the problem has been fixed? Has it been acknowledged by WP developers?

There are five header images located in wp-content/themes/cutline-3-column-split-11/images/

Dummie me. I didn’t scroll down far enough on the Presentation/Widgets page. The “widget tray” looks like it is the bottom of the page. It is not. There are options below it.

Well, it turned out that there is a conflict with WP-Sticky plug-in. Geez … I need BOTH plug-ins. Now I have to decide one or the other.

I hope someone can resolve this; it is way beyond my level. Maybe I can find a different plug-in for sticky posts.

Here is what is displayed when I activate WP_Sticky:

WordPress database error: [You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ‘DESC,’%Y-%m-%d’) DESC, (wp_sticky.sticky_status = 1 AND wp_sticky.sticky_status ‘ at line 1]
    SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp_posts.*, wp_sticky.sticky_status FROM wp_posts LEFT JOIN wp_post2cat ON (wp_posts.ID = wp_post2cat.post_id) LEFT JOIN wp_ec3_schedule ec3_sch ON ec3_sch.post_id=id AND ec3_sch.end>=’2007-08-28 00:00:00′ LEFT JOIN wp_sticky ON wp_sticky.sticky_post_id = wp_posts.ID WHERE 1=1 AND wp_post2cat.category_id IN (10) AND (post_type = ‘post’ AND (post_status = ‘publish’ OR post_status = ‘private’)) AND ec3_sch.post_id IS NOT NULL GROUP BY wp_posts.ID ORDER BY (wp_sticky.sticky_status = 2 AND wp_sticky.sticky_status IS NOT NULL) DESC, DATE_FORMAT(wp_posts.ec3_sch.start DESC,’%Y-%m-%d’) DESC, (wp_sticky.sticky_status = 1 AND wp_sticky.sticky_status IS NULL) DESC, DATE_FORMAT(wp_posts.ec3_sch.start DESC,’%T’) DESC LIMIT 0, 10

    I am using 3.1.1._rc1 with WP 2.2.1.

Show events as blog entries: Keep Events Separate

    DOES NOT WORK!!!

When I do that, and click on a date in the calendar in the sidebar, WP can’t find the category and an error message is displayed instead of a page.

I cannot seem to be able to get a listing of events on a page.

What I have had to do is to date each post two week from the event date so that they display in chronological order by event date, rather than posting date.

This, of course, is the opposite way I would want the listing.

If ic3 did all that it claimed to, it would be wonderful, but unfortunately it appears that it is not quite compatible yet with WP 2.2

I too am looking for an event calender that will work.

I have (semi) resolved this problem myself. This is for anyone who finds this thread on a search.

I found simple instructions on how to change my password with phpMyAdmin. First hit on a google search for md5 + phpmyadmin

If the password is stored encrypted with MD5, how do I change it? …

    https://www.karakas-online.de/EN-Book/phpmyadmin-navigation-bar-structure.html

What is not resolved is why the send new password function is not working. Maybe it has to do with the old version of MySQL on the server (ver 3)?

I have found that when I do use the email method to change password, it does generate a new encrypted password and activation code which I can see my logging into the MySQL data base.

So that part works OK. But what happens is that the second email does not contain a new password.

I tried copying the encrypted value for the password from the MySQL table and then going to wp-login.php and entering:
‘MD5:<long string of characters copied from password field in MySQL data base>’
but still I get password error.

I am totally bloched from administering my blog.

    Hope someone can help!

Sorry, I meant to say “except perhaps for the fact that I wasn’t able to create sub-sub-categories” rather than “sub-categories”.

Implementation of a bi-lingual message board on the band’s web site is waiting transferring the domain to a hosting service that supports a more recent version of MySQL. It appears that Genko might be just the ticket for establishing a good framework for multi-lingual pages as well as a discussion list. But I have to wait until I can test it out. So, I am making this resolved for now as the problem was too old a version of MySQL.

Yes I did but obviously I missed it. Thank you for pointing it out.

    Moshu,

I checked the demo for both Gengo and Polyglot. The Polyglot demo has categories. Since I do not have broadband, I am very sensitive about pages that take a long time to upload (like the grandfather on Boondocks who fell asleeep waiting for a reply on myspace.com). The site I am working on will have video as well as text and images. Polyglot seems to offer support for categories, but I was taken back by how slow it was to change between categories. It has me discouraged.

So maybe I’ll try Gengo and see what is possible.

    Samboll,

Thanks for your effort. I know it is a lot of work. I tried to install the spanish translated wordpress 2.0.4. but I got the following error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: wp_cache_init() in <server address>/blog/es/wp-settings.php on line 113

    Samboll,

It looks real nice. How might I implement this for dual english/spanish administration? Everything is for testing right now on my site, so I’ll see if I can install your WP 2.0.4 spanish version in a separate blog/es directory and see if I can also have a blog/en directory with an English interface and have both access the same database and catagories (which of course will be espanol and english).
