Hah, as someone who has dealt with updating WordPress plugins from a Git repository I totally understand. Making Git and SVN play nice together is no easy task.

Also have encountered the same issue except my existing API keys also no longer work, meaning we lost complete email functionality on the site. Very disappointing.

All of the button bars are defined in the function markdownbar_buttons

I’d be curious to know though which buttons you’re considering adding? It might be helpful to update the plugin with those.
