In reply to: [BadgeOS] Very cleverDaniel: Thanks for the note! Glad you like the plugin.
You asked: Just wondering if its possible to restrict an achievement to happen just the once.
Yes, absolutely. Just edit the achievement and set the “Maximum Earnings” field value to 1, which will limit the achievement to being earned only one time. See this screenshot:
If you need any additional help (i.e. related to your question about achievements for activating an account), please post the question along with as much detail as possible to the Support forum and a member of the team will do his or her best to help:

While four stars are lovely (thank you!), if this answer earned us the additional star, we’ll gladly accept it!

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Where does it display users points for a user to see?Daniel,
BadgeOS includes a widget called “BadgeOS Earned User Achievements”. The widget has a checkbox to “Display user’s total points”. That will enable you to show each user their total points. (The widget also has other options, including showing selected types of achievements/badges, and indicating how many recent achievements to show.) You can also place multiple copies of the widget in your site, one just to show points, for example, and other(s) showing just selected achievements.

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Choice of TasksOne way to accomplish this is to create an Achievement Type called “19th Century”. Make a new achievement item for each of the 10 novels. Then, when setting up your badge, set it to be earned by Completing Steps > “Any Achievement of Type” > “19th Century” — and set it to require 5 times.
For example:

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Achievement ID shortcodeAchievements are essentially custom posts in WordPress, and therefore the Achievement ID is essentially the same as the WordPress post ID.
Finding the ID of for an achievement works the same way as identifying the ID for any other post or page on WordPress.
One way to identify the ID of an achievement is to visit the back-end of WordPress, select the achievement to edit it, and then look at the web address of the edit screen for that achievement. It will look something like:
https://YOURSITEADDRESS.edu/wp-admin/post.php?post=3220&action=edit
The number after the “post=” is the ID of that achievement.
In most browsers (like Chrome), you can even see the post ID without clicking into the post. Just hover your mouse over the achievement in the list of achievements, and look in the status bar that shows up at the bottom of the browser window (as pictured here: https://d.pr/i/Xrhs ). The ID is the number following the “post=”. That should do it!

In reply to: [BadgeOS] kills siteKyle:
Can you deactivate the Achievements plugin momentarily to see if the issue persists with that plugin deactivated? Our support team can troubleshoot further as needed, but I’d like to see first if perhaps there is a plugin conflict, to isolate the issue you are experiencing.

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Award expirationMartin,
It’s a long-term commitment. There’s been a lot of work going into BadgeOS, and we’re gearing up for a v1.1 release in the near future.
By the way, we are involved building out BadgeOS-based sites for a range of organizations — development efforts which make the product stronger, and contribute exciting innovations back into the BadgeOS project/community. So all of our BadgeOS work feeds back into this project.
Thanks for your ongoing interest.

In reply to: [BadgeOS Community Add-on] It seems a hohum experience for the user– Oh, I thought there was suppose to be a BuddyPress Profile tab for Awards/Badges which I don’t see
With BuddyPress, BadgeOS and BadgeOS Community Add-on enabled, visit your Achievement Type menu in in BadgeOS, and check the boxes to enable badge visibility on Activity Streams and/or BuddyPress Profiles. Selected Achievements will appear accordingly. Achievements will appear on a user’s profile once they earn an achievement (the tab does not appear until they have at least one achievement.)
I mean, you wouldn’t know you get one unless the widget is running and you notice a new addition or have I missed a setting?
The widget is helpful, as is the real-time Credly email notification if you have Credly enabled for a given badge.
Keep in mind that BadgeOS is designed as an underlying “operating system” for achievement-based use of WordPress sites. Each site owner may have a different approach to how or when they want to notify users of new achievements. In each build of BadgeOS we’ve implemented for organizations, site owners have had completely different approaches to how they wish to notify users. No single approach has emerged yet.
As with most features added to BadgeOS and as add-ons, we learn from all installations and try to abstract and extract features that will work across as many use cases as possible.
I am confident you will see additions in the way of additional support for achievement notification, and we’ll do so in a way that still allows each site owner to decide what works for them in their context.
Thanks for your feedback. It’s valuable as we continue to grow BadgeOS!

In reply to: [BadgeOS Community Add-on] Just bbpress?Martin,
You do need BuddyPress installed for this plugin to work, however the latest version of BuddyPress has many benefits over earlier versions: it works with just about any standard WordPress theme and you can enable only those BuddyPress functions you want to use and leave all other functions turned off.

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Getting people started is the challenge@martin: Thanks for the comments. One of the current triggers does track and reward Logins to the site. You can award points, steps or badges when someone logins 1x. That would certainly reward people on your site for creating an account and logging in the first time. You can make an achievement set to be “earned by” Required Steps, and then make the step “login to site” 1 x. Then feature your achievement post or make an independent post or page on your site linking to your registration page and inviting people to join. Once in, they’ll have earned their first badge, points, etc.
@signale Thanks for the feature request. Your +1 for it has been noted!

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Points for uploading fileRawanian:
You could make an achievement that is “Earned by” Submission (auto-approved or reviewed). Submissions include an attachment/file upload button. You can then reward the user with an achievement, badge or points for completing the step.
With regards to points for downloads of files, it would be possible to do that, but it’s not an out of the box trigger at this time. We’ll note your “+1” for this request for upcoming. releases.

In reply to: [BadgeOS] Multiuser Friendly? It sounds like BadgeOS would be a great plugin for your company site. BadgeOS is designed to play nice with existing WordPress sites. You can decide which of its features to utilize, and set up achievements very much the same way you set up posts/pages.
You can certainly have 35 users completing achievements and earning badges. There are tools for things like reviewing submissions and nominations, or auto-accepted achievements to allow your users to progress without your involvement.
You might like to review this video, which walks through the initial set-up process of how to set-up configure the plugin to get started:
https://badgeos.org/support/tutorials/getting-started/
Essentially, once you have set up your first Achievement Type, you can create items/tasks/quests for your employees to do, and then set up a Badge they get when they complete those items. If you decide any of your employees’ badges should be permitted to be shared with the outside world, enable the Credly Integration, and let them share their badges proudly on their social networks and Credly.
Enjoy!
