In reply to: Admin and Login Links have disappeared“1. Sounds like your theme may have used an old template tag for these links that are no longer supported. Check the relevant template file for the tag used to generate the Admin and Login links. For example, if they were in the footer, you’ll need to check your theme’s footer.php file. The tag you need to insert is wp_loginout() which will generate both the Login and Admin links appropriately.”
I’m using the plaintxt theme that has two sidebars and the Login/Register Widgets normally reside at the top of the left-most sidebar.
Where would I put “wp_loginout()”? I have no knowledge of PHP whatsoever I can try and hack it.
I already did a reupload of both wp-admin and includes folders, no change.

In reply to: Widgets don’t drag and drop as advertisedYeah but this seems to be the case only if you have the Thesis Theme installed (which I don’t).

In reply to: Issue with WidgetsHow about the standard Widgets Login and Admin vanishing completely? Also, no login or Comments link on posts?
Real bummer as it means nobody can register or login or leave comments!
Also, removing an installed Widget removes it completely, rather than storing it in the inactive list as 2.8 informs us it will, so it has to be recreated from scratch!

In reply to: Login and Admin links not showingPS: Also, just discovered that when you drag an installed Widget to deactivate it, it just disappears instead of being saved in the inactive list. A real pain as I’ve now lost all the code!
Another peeve, I have a bunch of unused RSS Widgets that are always open, so I have to close them all and it doesn’t get saved.

In reply to: Login and Admin links not showingNope, it’s gone and I’ve just noticed that when I’m not logged in, the login tag is missing from all the posts as well. Not at all happy with the ‘improvements’ to the admin pages like Widgets and Plugins. Why fix it if it ain’t broke?

In reply to: Widgets don’t drag and drop as advertisedAlso, when you try to reorder the widgets, dragging the widget to its new location works but there’s no save button so I assumed it did it without doing a save. No luck, still in the same position.

In reply to: Can’t get out of phpMyAdmin login pageHi Samboll.
Not sure how to do that as I can’t get into the site. Maybe the hosting co could? Also, vindictive visitors have tried to setup a new site by filling in the activate page that you arrive at. Will this have wiped out the DB? (I have backups of the site and the db)

In reply to: Can’t get out of phpMyAdmin login pagePS: I did a ‘clean’ install, that is, I put the site into maintenance mode, deleted all the files via Dreamweaver (except my plugins/themes) then uploaded all the new 2.7.1 files. It worked just fine.

In reply to: Problems with RSS FeedsIt seems that nobody is interested. Still have the same problem all these months later. I suspect it’s the RSS widget

In reply to: Can’t get out of phpMyAdmin login pageI’m having the same problem!
I upgraded to WP 2.7.1 yesterday and all seemed well, I’ve posted new content, no problem until just now. When I tried to access the site it takes me https://www.creative-i.info/wp-admin/install.php as if the site doesn’t exist.
I then checked via Dreamweaver that the site is actually there and it is. I’ve tried it with two different browsers and on another computer, same thing, no matter that I enter the right URL, the browser always appends wp-admin/install.php to the address.
What’s going on, this is a disaster!
