That was the problem. I am using on the primary menu, but that menu actually switches for logged in users. Is there a way to add the widget to 2 menus?

Coincidentally Events Calendar Plus have just released an update which fixed this issue, just tested it and it was their plugin creating the user.

Thanks for the reply, yes that is exactly how I have the settings.
I will therefore check other plugins.
