In reply to: [Yoast SEO] How to re-enable search on RSS feeds?Doesn’t work for me. I had/have same problem with /feed/ redirecting. Checking with Kinsta gives Yoast redirect x-redirect. That shows whether Yoast is installed or not. I also tried dropping the Yoast tables in Php, and I still get the Yoast msg. I use Cloudflare and checked that. Also deleted the .htaccess and robots.txt just to shotgun

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] How do a create site like sample? You can see “what it was” at web.archive.org.. You can scrape the text for the entries/post with your mouse. Copy into a pure text editor to sanitize it. Do not use Word or email. You need to do a fresh wordpress install on a new server. GoDaddy has supercheap hosting. I used to use Mediatemple.net and then they got bought by GoDaddy.
Pretty laborious to recreate the site as it was. Maybe best to point at it there at Wayback machine.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] How do a create site like sample? It’s not the cheapest but a host like WPengine automatically secures your server (check it anyway periodically) and they have techs you can talk to (and hire on temporary basis). Let them do the heavy lifting with the sites.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] How do a create site like sample? What I would do is check on what backups the hosting service still has access to. Pick one prior to the hackers getting in and dump all your entries and copy down your graphics. Those can be imported though the graphics will be a bit of a pain.
You might want to consider buying some tech time (3 hours?) and pay them to do restore it.
Wordfence is a great plugin for hackers and Cloudflare does pretty good as well.
Make sure your server has all the latest updates installed.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] How do a create site like sample? And actually this is my last post regarding 2014. I was up here to “unsubscribe” (to lighten my inbox). For reference 2019 is pretty good and it still primarily uses the classic editor which I am too lazy to switch from myself.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] How do a create site like sample?I used 2014 as my standard for a long time. Nice theme. It’s dangerous running an unsupported theme. I eventually switched my 20+ sites running 2014 over to Iconic Pro from Themonic a couple of years ago. Never looked back. Super light, supported and can do almost anything. My main site is https://kioskindustry.org

In reply to: Featured images no longer displayingNo problem here with 2014 5.4.1 and Jetpack 842.
I think I might download 2014 again as separate theme, disable all of your plugins, view results, then activate the new unadulatered 2014. Or even load one of the later WP default themes to check featured images.
Personally I always recommend against using gallery or slide plugins (and plugins in general when possible ??
My guess is it has something to do with Nextcellent. You could disable that and see if featured images show.
Hope this helps Maurice

In reply to: [Easy Table of Contents] Initially Hiding Non-FunctionalIn between Cloudflare and WP caching plugins and browsers (and Shields with Brave) web-browsing is getting complicated…
For some of my webwork I have actually started using Edge in a virtualbox Win7 session set to never cache.
Thanks again

In reply to: [Easy Table of Contents] Initially Hiding Non-FunctionalBingo. It was weird because it worked on my mobile (Pixel3A) but not on the desktop.
That setting was it.
Thanks Steven!

Not initially hiding works fine….Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Easy Table of Contents] Initially Hiding Non-FunctionalFor reference I typically use Brave, Firefox and Chrome on my Linux workstations. I also checked two of my sites using Windows7 workstation with Chrome and Edge.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] Hyperlink Previews in Editor but not in ViewGood question. I normally use Brave and it has built-in “shields” that are on by default but I have them off. I think you are right it is mostly a browser issue. I have two machines. Both run the latest Ubuntu.
Brave on my NUC seems fatally flawed to call those embeds up. Chrome and Firefox do but if I have two embed links they rarely show both.
On my other machine (laptop with Ubuntu) – both Chrome and Firefox work but not Brave. I also checked using my Win7 VM and both Chrome and Edge work fine.
Something to do with Brave unfortunately. It has fairly powerful shields and I have to remember to turn them off if anomaly comes up. Still, better 95% of the time to refuse website tracking/etc.
Thanks for following up.

In reply to: [Twenty Fourteen] Hyperlink Previews in Editor but not in ViewFor reference if I do the same with a different theme then that hyperlink preview shows. This is basically same entry on different site using different theme (Iconic Pro).
