    Renaming the “Plugins” folder to “plugins_old” via FTP did allow login to the site, both the renamed admin and user accounts, but other issues remain. For example, under the “Manage Themes” tab in the admin panel only the “Twentyeleven Child” theme shown. The actual Twentyeleven theme is not shown, neither is the “Twentytwelve” and the “Twentythirteen” themes. The “themes” folder does have these themes, verified via FTP.

    Selecting any of the tabs under “Install Themes” results in the “Internal server error…” message. The same error message comes up, when clicking “Search Plugins”, under “Install Plugins” tab.

    The other place where the internal server error comes up, when clicking on the admin panel indicated three updates icon.

    I have not tried uploading the files and rerun the upgrade. I am kind of gun shy and not sure, if it would work? Maybe reinstalling 3.7.1 from scratch and restoring the database is a more reliable method at this point. What do you think?
    Thanks for your help…

    Just to state the obvious…

    The code changes were made in the “header.php”…

    Actually, you can…

    I have two live site that have 2011 and child themes only where the WP version is 3.5; both the guests and authenticated users have no problems accessing the sites. The more worrisome were the plugins that may rely on the latest theme, but they are a OK as well.

    Just out of curiosity, I’ve done some tests in my preview installation of WP 3.5. Deleting all the themes in the ..\wp-content\themes folder had the expected results. Guest got a blank page with no error message, while the direct link to the administrator login and managing the site features worked just fine.

    Seemingly, there are no dependencies between the ..\wp-content\themes and ..\wp-admin folders. That actually makes sense since the theme is just window dressing…

    You are correct that in WP 3.5, 2012 is the default theme. Without any theme installed the admin interface did show 2012 theme as the default theme. Evidently, some of the developers have some sense of humor popping up this message with no themes installed:

    You only have one theme installed right now. Live a little!…

    Thanks Voodoo…

    I’ve never liked depending on a third-party site for my blog, even if the site is google. For the time being I’ll stick with twentyeleven + child theme.

    Since the twentytwelve theme will not be used, can it be deleted? To my recollection, the answer is yes…

    TIA…

    Thanks Andrew for your suggestion…

    I’ve tried your script, but it wouldn’t work. Adding the CSS code to the style.css file in the 2012 child theme folder on the other hand did.

    I guess I’ve grossly overestimated the HTML based post edit’s capabilities. It seemed that one could enter HTML code and while it is true, the capabilities are very limited.

    Oh well, live and learn…

    Thanks guys for your help…

    Adding the CCS code to the style.css file in 2012 child theme didn’t work either.
    Would adding the CSS code to the editor-style.css in the root of 2012 theme folder make a difference?
    TIA…

    Same here…

    Line 353 suppose to display the last five entries from the WP forum:

    function news() {

    	include_once( ABSPATH . WPINC . '/feed.php' ); //load WordPress feed info
    	$feed = fetch_feed( $this->feed ); //get the feed
    	$feeditems = $feed->get_items( 0, $feed->get_item_quantity( 5 ) ); //narrow feed to last 5 items, line 353
    	$content = '<ul>'; //start list

    The chances are that the functionality of BWS is not impacted by this error…

    You certainly can, but you’ll need to edit the header.php file to insert the image. You should check the size of the image prior to creating it, or just modify the style.css for custom size image.

    If you use the Twenty Eleven theme, you can also add your image through the admin panel by browsing to your image on your computer to upload.

    You could save it as any image type and just insert the picture in the header. I had similar issue that had been answered by alchymyth for doing just that.

    This thread may answer your question..

    Alternatively, you could install the Spamgone plugin that removes the URL/Website field from the “Post Reply” page. You’ll probably like the feature of rejecting reply that has specified a URL, such as spammers’ automated replies that clutters the blog.
    Here’s the link for the SpamGone plugin…
