In reply to: [Plugin: WP e-Commerce] No help/support for customersI’ve posted the exact same issues. Seems they pick and chose who they respond to in support forums. If you can get the simple free plug-in to work fine for your needs all by yourself than it’s a potentially great plug-in. The upgrade on the other hand, is NOT something I’d advise unless you’re a programmer also, who can fix the problems and bugs on your own. Even if you’re that, the API key hostage issue will bring you to a complete standstill.
There’s nowhere to even request a refund for the upgrade purchase… which is scary, have to open a dispute with your credit card used to undo the regretful purchase.
I’m willing to wait/be patient for support, but 2 weeks without even so much as an automated response that my requests were delivered via their premium support ‘token’ system… 2 weeks of buggy derelict plugin has cost me 10 times as much as I paid for the upgrade. I gave it a fair chance. I had high hopes. Really disappointed.

In reply to: [Plugin: WP e-Commerce] Avoid WP- ecommerce pluginEven with the paid Gold upgrade, support requests (using their support request “tokens” AND just posting in appropriate threads) have gone into outer space for weeks now. I also contacted several of the “Resources > WP Consultants” listed on the GetShopped site, none of which have replied either. I don’t have time to contact them ALL. Plus, if I have to hire outside support for this, what did I pay $195 for?! A plug-in upgrade that’s a total mess?
$195 for the upgrade, that doesn’t work despite every instruction followed and TOTALLY UNRESPONSIVE support. Uninstalled, looking elsewhere. Not cool, “GetShopped”, not cool at all.

In reply to: [Plugin CaPa Protect] Request to CaPa Protect author to add tagsTHANK YOU for this plug-in. FINALLY found it after searching and searching and trying every other plug-in out there.
I just wanted to HIDE the comments from non-registered members of my site with a simple plug-in and this did the trick! In other forums, the mega-coder minds were all saying that hiding comments was theme dependent. Then they gave me this insane amount of PHP “Loop” code to modify in my theme which has about a zillion different PHP files… which is just way over my head. Ack!
One thing I would like to see for the non-coder user of this plug-in is what a similar plug-in does WP HidePost. It automatically puts a link in for the non-member to register or log in to view the post. Right now, I’m not seeing that customization option in CaPa.
I’m still not sure what the “Roles” section is all about, whether I should be checking all those boxes for ‘Subscriber’, ‘Contributor’, etc.
Three cheers for this huge problem of mine solved with CaPa.
Some additional tags, as I’ve found quite a few others in various forums looking for this same thing: “hide comments” or “comments private” or “hide comments from non-members”Forum: Plugins
In reply to: Hide comments from non-membersAlso, I just installed this plug-in: CaPa and it’s working PERFECTLY!!! It adds a new admin module down at the bottom (under “Settings”) where you can set exactly what you want to be private, including COMMENTS! Weeeeee!

In reply to: My post is private but comments are notMe too! I’ve been searching through forums and plug-in directories for DAYS now to no avail. Some say it is a “theme level” issue and not something that can be solved with a simple plug-in to WP. But my theme (atahualpa) has nothing on this either.
I’ve used register plus and all kinds of other plug-ins, still no luck. Comments are still public and I don’t want them to be.Anyone???

In reply to: Hide comments from non-membersLooking for the exact same thing – did you find anything in the forums here to answer this?

In reply to: Embed Register Plus into a pageOK, this helped me figure it out:

I created a new Page Called Log In/Register.
In that page, I put a link to the login.php file.
My PAGE has this code in it…example looks like this:<a href="https://www.YOURSITENAME.com/wp-login.php" target="_self">LOG IN</a> <a href="https://www.YOURSITENAME.com/wp-login.php?action=register">REGISTER</a>

In reply to: Excerptsstvwlf,
I came in here looking and sifting through answers for my problem of trying to get rid of the […] at the end of my excerpts and replace with that <–read more–> thingie. I’m a fairly new experimenter of all this php stuff. I know CSS very well and that’s it. I’ve also realized that this forum is something that others who actually KNOW more than I do FREELY and willingly participate in. I commend you on your attempts to advise on this topic and am thoroughly impressed with your PATIENCE. I’m not even sure WHAT is going on here with this ‘Dharma’ stuff, but I’ve never seen someone so rude and impatient as this person you’re tyring to help for nothing.I’m still in search of the simplest answer possible for replacing those annoying […] things at the end of my excerpts with links to “read more”. Any quick links to this type of thing that you’ve already answered would be fantastic. ??
I’m using the Antahualpa theme and I swear I’ve seen some mention of this in the admin area, but I can’t find it back!
