  • this is the exact problem I am having, and of course it doesn’t surprise me to see that it was never answered. these forums have gotten noisier, yet weaker over the years.

one possibility: you’ve saved the HTACCESS file using a text editor, and accidentally saved it in RTF or another format, rather than plain text. this was my problem. hard to find/realize but easy to fix…

I couldn’t get effects working either – even tried deleting and reinstalling the plug-in, no dice. If you go to “effects” and choose “thickbox” it will at least bring that one back (at least it did for me.)

Same issue here. When I try to create a “directly cached file” all I get is a blank subdirectory served up.

    ideas? looks like no.

I’ve done a lot of digging on this, and I cannot find a way to do category feeds if you are using Feedburner and the Feedsmith plugin. The Feedsmith plugin seems to redirect all feed requests – category, tag, or otherwise – to the main feed.

If anyone figures it out I’d appreciate a post or something…

I am seeing this too – the first draft (often a partial title, often the old title, and sometimes just the post number) is “locked in” as far as stats are concerned. Bummer because it’s sorta hard to remember what post “835” is and why it’s become so popular. ??

For what it’s worth, I’m seeing the exact same behavior on my blog (2.5.1) …

i’m in a similar boat, i think. the last few days since I went to 2.5.1, the load on my VPS has made it unstable and basically unusable. the host says my MYSQL memory use has skyrocketed and are suggesting I need a dedicated server. With a MAX of 1,000 users a day (and most days it’s more like 150), I have a hard time imagining why this would be.

I’m posting my solution from the other thread, too (moderators, merge if you wish):

After my 2.5.1 upgrade, my feed also stopped working.

At Feedburner, my feed was pointing to “mysite.com/wp-atom.php” and it started coming up blank. While testing and trying to solve, I noticed “mysite.com/wp-rss2.php” was blank too. So, as you say above, they’ve apparently been depreciated in this release (thanks for the heads up, folks!) ??

Here is how I solved it:

    1. Deactivate Feedsmith Plugin
    2. Log into Feedburner.
    3. Choose “Edit Feed Details”
    4. Where it says “original feed”, put: “https://www.yoursite.com/feed” (DO NOT USE A TRAILING SLASH!*)
    5. Save feed details
    6. Go to the “troubleshootize” tab. Choose “Resync” [Don’t know if this is necessary but I did it anyway.]
    7. Go back to your WordPress admin page and turn the Feedsmith plugin back on

These are the steps I took tonight and it APPEARS all is normal again.

    * – This (trailing slash issue) had me ripping my hair out because (in my case anyway) with a trailing slash in place, it was being redirected to Feedburner’s own blank feed – so Feedburner was essentially checking itself for content instead of my actual feed.

But for those of us with Feedsmith – this won’t work, I don’t think… because I think the Feedsmith plugin will re-direct “yoursite.com/feed/” back to itself. My solution is below…

My feed has gone empty, too – at first I blamed Feedsmith plugin, but it’s continuing even with the plugin deactivated. Ideas?

Looks like it actually is a coincidence – seems GA is down:

Hmm, I just did a chmod 755 for the folder AND the files, and it seems to be working fine now. Odd – it may flake out again, but I offer this post to those who might stumble across this later….
