Since time became short I dug deeper on my own.
It turned out that the the following setting for a Group-block was the issue:
Group-Block/Settings/Frame/Background
There was an image set as background with the following settings:
Left: 100%
Size: Contain
Repeat: None
Attachment: Scroll
Placement: Back

I removed the background image and placed it again with the exact same settings –> issue gone. I can use PHP 8.0 now.

Though the issue is solved now, I have to admit, that the slow support response doesn’t increase my trust in the plugin to use it again in coming projects.

I’m still not able to switch to PHP 8.0, but I think I should not wait too long to do so.

Not sure if I understand your request. Since creating a staging site at another place will cause some effort, I would like to understand, what you really need.
If I create a staging site, showing (in best case) the same effect I’m seeing already – how will it help you to find the root cause?

Sure, I can try to provide more information.
Anyhow, can we try to narrow it a bit down?
I guess I used a lot of styles on all the blocks forming a page.
Is there something in particular you are interested in?
I have some PHP skills, so I can look a bit deeper, when you tell me what to look for.

Here is an additional information, maybe it can help to analyse the issue:
Even after switching back to PHP 7.4, with debug messages still activated, I receive a warning on the home-page:
Warning: A non-numeric value encountered in /var/www/wp-content/plugins/editorplus/includes/utils.php on line 172

Es war tats?chlich der Einbettungscode. Ich hatte ihn so kopiert, wie er vorher über einen anderen Weg eingebunden war. Ich habe ihn jetzt noch mal direkt von Google Maps geholt – und nun funktioniert alles!

Ich habe zwar noch weitere Fragen, aber ich denke, die lege ich in einen separaten Post.

I think it would absolutely make sense to have the option to prevent sending a several MB attachment.

In the meanwhile maybe this hint could help:
my hoster told me, that the XCloner mails are rejected because I use php to send the mail. There they have a size limitation of 10 MB. If I would use SMTP instead, the limitation would be 100 MB. Though I haven’t tried it, I think there are ways (e.g. plugins) to utilize SMTP instead of the php function in WordPress.

Altough I guess the differences in mail size limitations are kind of specif to my hoster, it still might also help for others.

In between I tested also on another website at a different hoster. Here the transfer to a remote storage works fine with scheduled backups.
Hence, there must be an issue between XCloner and the setup of the 1st website I tried.
What puzzles me is that each step works separately. The scheduled backup is executed, there is a local backup file.
If I send the backup manually (“Manage Backups –> Send Backup To Remote Storage) it ends up in the remote storage without issue.
Only in combination it doesn’t work.

Since I want to recommend (and pre-install) XCloner to my clients I need to be sure that it works without issues.

Yes, I’m using the latest XCloner version (4.2.163).

Regarding the server error log I found something:

Then something that says ModSecurity: Warning.. The actual entry has of course more information, but I’m not sure if it is safe to post it here publicly.
It think these entries do not match the time of the scheduled backups, but if you feel they might be important I could send them to you directly.

es ist ein kostenloses Plugin, es ist keine Fehlerbehebung sondern ein neues Feature: also kein Grund sich zu entschuldigen!
Aber du k?nntest mal einen Tipp geben, wie du auftragsbedingt leider “Land unter” hinbekommen hast. Ich habe mich gerade selbst?ndig gemacht als Webdesigner- und programmierer und versuche noch, diesen Zustand herzustellen ;-).

Dass der Link in einem neuen Reiter kommt, habe ich gesehen. Sehr sch?n!

I tested a bit more and it seems to be a Firefox issue!

Slide in only after scrolling the page:
– Desktop, Ubuntu, Firefox
