In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress] Log says success, but no signup happensYes, I figured out the issues.
- I had not yet verified the domain in Mailchimp.
- We had not planned to set up emails in that domain, but I decided that I had to, both to verify the domain and to ensure that the mailings did not end up in people’s spam folders.
Thanks for testing it. Glad it worked as well for you as it did for me. ??

In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress] Log says success, but no signup happensAdmin:
Was this this marked resolved erroneously?
Question for Stuart: where is this Mailchimp log you looked at, that indicated “success”?
Thanks,
Connie

In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress] Log says success, but no signup happensI believe that Stuart said he received no double opt-in email at all.
I am having the same problem without even using Contact Form 7. I just put the subscribe form onto a page in my WordPress website, adnneiu.com. Help please! This is the last thing the website needs.
Steps:
- I did the setup in Mailchimp (made an Audience, settings, etc.).
- Installed Mailchimp plug-in and made the form in MC4WP/Form.
- Made new page, accessible through 2 menu pages (Blog and Contact) with a link called “Sign up for my newsletter.”
- User steps:
- Go to page Blog
- Click on “Sign up…” link.
- Enter First name , Last name and Email address, click the “Sign up” button.
- When I check that email address, there is no double opt-in email in any folder.
- When I check the Audience list in Mailchimp, nothing was added (of course, as there was no double opt-in email.)
Thank you for the clarification, Kathryn. Yes, you answered my question with this–
“Since Twenty Twenty-Three (TT3) is a?block theme, many changes to its layout and design can be done in the?Site Editor. These tweaks will?not?be lost when you update the theme, as they are stored in the database and they won’t get overwritten.”
I am purposely doing only the style customizations in the Site Editor-block editor- to keep the project simple. I choose only the built-in font options. I’m relieved–and impressed with the theme creators–that those style changes do not get overwritten with Theme updates.
Thanks again. I’m glad this is clarified with this new Forum topic.
Aminul,
Thanks for your clear reply; I understand what you said. It didn’t answer my particular question though.
I read the recent detailed thread by Kathryn about child themes, which stated that some types of customizations do not require child themes to be made. Only the types of changes made with a .json file require a child.
So back to my original question:
“…what types of customizations are in a theme.json?
…for my current work, I only needed to change the font attributes, colors, header, footer, some block spacings (“Layout” in the Site Editor)?“
Is a child theme necessary in my current project?
Thanks.
Moderator,
After nearly finishing a website project, I belatedly came across the possible need for a child theme to avoid overwrites when updating the theme. My question is related to this thread but simpler.
When is a child necessary?
In other words, following the previous thread: what types of customizations are in a theme.json?
Specifically for my current work, I only needed to change the font attributes, colors, header, footer, some block spacings (“Layout” in the Site Editor) and of course the logo. The site is naumann.law (also redirected to, by lawofficeofdorothynaumann.com).
Thanks!
P.S.-The name in the header here was wrong (oops!); I will correct it now in my WordPress profile.

In reply to: can't add link in post textWell, that’s very strange. It is a working link in the WP editor, but not a working link in the regular browser (Firefox):
https://ledyardcongregational.org/category/for-guests/ . The link does go to https://www.yourfaithfamily.org/joomla/. in the editor, as intended.A separate problem I noticed is that when I click on the title of the article, “Currently Under Construction”, I get this error message:
Bad Request
