Thanks! That is what I was looking for. When the next update comes out, I will check out the pop-up with description feature.

Question: The text displayed below the video does not go all the way across the page beneath the video image. It is in a column about 50% of the width. Is there a setting to adjust the display of the text?

    Thanks. ??

    Hello Stanimir,

With the image optimization for new images “off” and lazy loading “on, the images are appearing on the site.

Please tell me what you discover after you look at the theme, and we will reply to the theme developer with your comments.

    Thanks! ??

The theme developer reported the following issue:

When SG Optimizer is activated, the images will not be loaded correctly. For example, an image address directs to this url:?
    data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7?

    The correct url should be:?
    https://example.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/image.jpeg?

Note – the page I need help with now shows images – because SG Optimizer is deactivated.

The theme developer is waiting for us to provide an answer from Siteground about SG Optimizer plugin and why it might cause images to not display.

Can someone get back to me? Thanks! ??

I’ve asked the same question elsewhere on this forum.

The video membership theme that I bought for a new site originally came with Membership 2, but I needed to switch after support was pulled. The designer of the theme kept encouraging me to continue with Membership 2, but that seemed risky, because I wanted good support.

The theme developer claimed Ultimate Membership Pro was also supported, although he offers zero documentation for how to best set it up with the theme, so it has been difficult for me to get it going. I asked for help from the developer, but no word, yet.

I ended up using Ultimate Membership Pro, and making my best guesses for how to make it work with the theme. It seems like a good product.

I might try konnichiwa for another membership site, though. Maybe if I discard the video theme I bought and start over…

    Okay, I think I found it. ??

The support people at Siteground installed a plugin called All-In-One WP Migration on my site.

You might need to pay Siteground (or whoever is your new hosting provider) to do a manual migration of your site.

For our site, it was worth the fee to have their help.

@darkfreaks – Apologies, I meant to say that I searched in www.remarpro.com for a plugin called Restrict Content Pro and I could not find it.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum could supply the link to that plugin on www.remarpro.com so I could check it out.

Yes, I was considering using WooCommerce. It looks like I would need to use UM plus WooCommerce, plus UM WooCommerce integration plugin, plus a WooCommerce subscriptions plugin — but that sounds fairly complicated for me to set up.

(I had bought a theme that included numerous plugins, and I am somewhat a WP beginner, so simple solutions are best. I also don’t want to load the site with too many plugins.)

I am looking for one plugin that:

    1. allows user logins.
    2. offers paid membership with PayPal as the payment method.
    3. offers multiple membership tiers, such as free, standard, and premium.
    4. Provides content restrictions by user role.

    All suggestions are welcome. ??

    Thanks for the suggestion.

Do you have a link in the Plugins page where I can find Restrict Content Pro?

I searched, but got a lot of different things that seemed to be add-ons for it. Some of the items had no user ratings, or had a 2.5 star rating.

Also, does Restrict Content Pro require any other plugins (such as Ultimate Member) in order to work?

    Thanks.

    Hi Iresh,

This is something that worked for me:

cb-change-mail-sender — Lets you specify your own site name and email to replace [email protected]

Might give it a try if you don’t hear back from the developer in the time you need.

    Hi Nastia,
Thanks for the response. I’m frustrated with WPMUDEV, and will probably not try the fix.
Unfortunately, while I was waiting for updates to Membership 2, I read that WPMUDEV announced that it is discontinuing support for most of their plugins, including Membership 2 — and they were recommending to simply go out and pick basically ANY other membership plugin that is not Membership 2. Here is part of the blog post:

“We’re Setting over 90% of Our Premium Plugins Free! – WPMU DEV”

“…saying farewell and good luck to the over 90% of our plugin catalogue, which you can now find freely available on our GitHub. These include:

“…Membership 2 Pro – The original UltimateMember Which you should probably go and use instead: UltimateMember (or one of the bazillion others out there)”

I was disappointed, of course, that Membership 2 was no longer supported by WPMUDEV. I get it. It’s business. A company can’t sustain a bunch of free users on a host of plug-ins forever. Maybe you guys just needed to pull the plug. The tone of the blog post came across as flippant and sarcastic, like WPMUDEV staff was having a melt-down.

It would be foolish to base the entire subscription payment function of a new website on a product that is being retired by its developer. I saw that it is now on Github – does this mean that it would only be updated or debugged if someone volunteers to do so?

Coincidentally, the same time that I read that Membership 2 was posted on Github, our site started to get lots and lots of spam sign-ups that were not cured by changing the plug-in’s settings. I had to find a spam filter plug-in to stop it. (Maybe somebody quickly spotted and exploited a code vulnerability?)

Based on the blog post and the spam, I sought out other options. The developer who sold us our site’s theme (which included Membership 2) was not even aware of WPMUDEV’s change of plans and had no suggestions for a replacement. The theme developer kind of expected me to try a bunch of membership plug-ins and then tell them which plugins might work with their theme (?). :-\

UltimateMember has part of the solution my site needs, but not things like paid membership tiers. I am trying now to bolt together Ultimate Member and some other plug-ins in an attempt to replace the Membership 2 functions.

This membership issue has cost us weeks of time and delayed our launch/publicity plans.
None of this is your fault, of course. Just wanted you and Team WPMUDEV to know the source of my frustration, and why I probably won’t be trying out the fix.

    Forum: Plugins
In reply to: [Membership 2] Error Email

    Just so everyone knows:

The Membership 2 plugin is no longer supported (according to the WPMUDEV website).

I had a support question a couple of weeks ago, and I been told there would be an update that would fix my issue, but then WPMUDEV instead stopped supporting the plugin.

I understand that there are good business reasons why WPMUDEV would stop supporting a plugin, but I think it is worth explaining to any WP users still using the plugin (or thinking of installing it) that they are on their own if there is a bug.

    Hi Nastia,

Any word on when the update will be available?

Not having the membership working is stopping me from having this site ready for users.

Also, is there any way to set up a Captcha that will prevent spam? I have started to get lots of random sign-ups that don’t look like real users, and I don’t see how to set up a captcha on the registration form.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

When I updated, the problem started. 3.3.5 has the text. 3.3.6 does not.

As soon as I saw that updating to 3.3.6 had left all of my feeds with blank text (heading, image, but no text) I reverted to the previous version so my site would not look like crap.

Because my site is live, I don’t want to leave all of my article pages with blank text while I wait several days for support to view the site.

I’m sure you’ll understand why I do not want to go back to 3.6.6 so that you can see what happened. It just looked like a regular feed, but with blank space where the article text would be.

Regarding the shortcode, I am using Feedzy on several pages, referring to a few different feeds. Also, due to the way my site’s editor works (or doesn’t!) I cannot find anything that looks like a shortcode any more. ??

Since 3.3.4, I think, the only way for me to add a feed on a page now is to choose the Insert Block icon and select Feedzy, then type in the category name in a box. I don’t see shortcodes. This new way of adding feeds appeared with 3.3.4, I believe. Viewing the page in Code View results in a huge mish-mash of code, that includes the actual imported articles and a bunch of formatting. Nothing that looks like a shortcode.

Here are a few links that I have put into my categories – these work in 3.3.5:

    https://thesource.com/category/from-the-issue/feed/
    https://thesource.com/category/entertainment/feed/
    https://thesource.com/category/style/feed/

I know this is not the kind of information you were asking for.

Maybe someone else will soon report a similar problem, once a few more people update to 3.3.6. (???)

    Thanks.
