That’s a great idea, gmkayaker. I’ll add it to our development board.
Best,
ScottDefinitely planning to do this! Thanks for the suggestion.

ScottHi miwebdesigns,
This is definitely possible. You’ll need to add an additional directory for Simply Static to include, which is the directory where Revolution Slider stores the files that it loads up. Looking at your site, it looks like it’s trying to get files from
/wp-content/plugins/revslider/
.Take a look at the examples for Additional Files and Directories to get an idea of what the final path should look like. In my case, the second example path looks like this:
/home/scott/www/my_site/wp-content/fancy.pdf
So, combining my example path and where Rev Slider stores it’s files, the path that I would add would look like this:
/home/scott/www/my_site/wp-content/plugins/revslider/
(joined on the
/wp-content/
portion)Hope that helps!
Best,
ScottGlad you figured this out, miwebdesigns! I’d been meaning to put together a guide on how to do that, but haven’t had time.

Thanks for the review, ventair! And thanks for the note about the childs content upload. I’ll make a note to do some testing on multisite looking for issues like that.

In reply to: [Simply Static - The WordPress Static Site Generator] Works fine on WindowsHi Tsukuro,
Glad to hear it worked for you! I actually don’t do any testing on Windows presently, and I’ve heard from a few folks that there’s an issue in there that I need to address. But if it’s working for you, that’s great!

Sorry to hear you were having some trouble with versions after 1.6.3, but at least that one works for you ??

ScottThanks, I’ll take a look at this.

ScottHi mikelbyl,
Thank you for the kind words!
So as far as best practices go, absolute URLs are slightly better than relative URLs because there are certain instances where you need to have absolute URLs (e.g. RSS feeds). So I’d opt for absolute URLs when possible.
For transitioning from a WordPress site to a static site, my experience has only been with single-site installs. For that, what I’ve done is generate the static files into a directory, and then flip the domain from pointing from the directory for WordPress to the directory for the static files.
To be honest I don’t have a lot of experience with WordPress multisite, but I’ll try setting up a multisite installation on my local dev box and see if I can come up with any better suggestions on how to migrate to a static site.

ScottHi xtk03dhbxdfn,
Thanks for reporting this issue. I’ve done a little searching and I think I can adjust that ip address so that it actually is for the machine. I’ll get that on the docket for a future release.
Thanks again,
ScottHi bendenhamsrb,
I haven’t tried Mailchimp signup functionality within Simply Static, but that should work I would think. If it doesn’t, let me know and I can take a look.
Standard WordPress search functionality will definitely not work with Simply Static though, since there’s no PHP to handle the search requests.

ScottHi brmoore252,
That’s a use-case that I haven’t heard before. It almost sounds like you need something like the ability to set up distinct jobs for Simply Static to perform, where each job processes a certain set of files.
I don’t presently have plans to do something like that, but I’ll definitely keep it in mind if I start hearing similar requests.
Best,
Scott
