In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Someone else’s bookshelves showing?I won’t be able to test this for a few days yet, but what if you use only 7242227 in the GR profile URL configuration field?

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Someone else’s bookshelves showing?Sorry for your troubles. In order for me to investigate, please provide me with the link to your Goodreads shelf (the one you want to display) as well as the values you have used for the two GR Progress plugin/widget settings “Goodreads user ID” and “name of shelf”. Please also provide me with a link to your blog where I can see the error.

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Not Currently Reading AnythingHi, I just tried your settings and it works without a problem here. The two books currently on your shelf were displayed on my blog.
Try checking the “Reset cover URL cache upon next save” and then re-saving the widget settings.
If it still doesn’t work, then I’m at a loss – anyway, the problem lies not with the widget itself, since it works for me.
And again, make sure you’re using the most recent version of the widget, 1.4.1. ??

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Not Currently Reading AnythingHi again, just wanted to know if you still have this problem. If you do, could you give me the info I requested in the previous post so I can see if I can replicate it?

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Grid Layout?Hi! I’m glad you’re happy with the size options. Regarding the grid stuff: I’m no CSS expert, but CSS is very flexible, and there might certainly exist some way you can get this to work. Unfortunately my CSS skills aren’t l33t enough to pull that solution out of the hat. Let me know if you find out how and get it working!
It’s displaying the first paragraph, which is exactly as intended. I’ve probably just phrased the setting poorly (in all plain-text editors, one paragraph = one line).
The “show first line …” feature is not really intended to show your review or even a small snippet of your review – it’s intended to let you write something specifically for the widget. The by far easiest way I could think of doing that was to show the first paragraph from the Goodreads review. That way, you could reserve that paragraph for what was to appear on your blog. I of course realize this is not ideal, since it puts some restrictions on how to write your Goodreads review, but other solutions not based on data from Goodreads (e.g. a local table in your WordPress database) would be significantly more work to implement and was out of the question.
Thanks for the suggestion to implement the “first X characters” feature, but that won’t be added. Simply put, it would be far from trivial to make such a feature, because that the Goodreads review can contain HTML tags which should definitely not be broken.
Sorry, and I hope you can still make use of the plugin. ??
Glad to hear you like it, and I’m sorry for your troubles! Could you send me a link to your blog where you are experiencing this problem, as well as to your relevant review on Goodreads?

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Not Currently Reading AnythingMight be some other configuration. I assume that “max books” is not set to zero? Could you post a screenshot of all the widget settings, or simply list them here?

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Not Currently Reading AnythingNo, you only need the key, not the secret.
Are you using the correct profile ID in the widget settings? In your case, it should be 17079305. When I test that on my own blog, everything works (I see the book that’s on the shelf you linked to), so I expect there’s something else wrong with your widget configuration.

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Not Currently Reading AnythingHi! The shelf is not public. Try to log out of Goodreads and open the link you posted here, and you’ll see. ?? Let me know if you get it working.

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Where is the plugin configuration?Like most widgets, it’s on the actual widget.
In the admin panel, go to Widgets, drag the GR Progress widget wherever you want it, and click the widget to expand all the settings. ??

In reply to: [GR Progress Widget] Error retrieving data from GoodreadsI noticed Goodreads had some problems yesterday, so it might have been that. Does it work now? If not, try re-saving the widget settings. And make sure you’re using the latest plugin version released yesterday (1.4.1).
