It is normal for counts not to be transfered when changing the social plugin. Each social plugin tracks social events separately. The only way you could keep some of the counts is to opt for using native counts (these are sharing counts reported by the social service, e.g. ShareThis would display the number facebook reports for your page).
On the downside :
– only a select number of social services provide this capability.
– you would no longer have ShareThis counts which are real-time. This means that the sharing counts increment as sharing happens on your site.
– you would no longer be able to track the social activity on your site over time in ShareThis Analytics.

Can you please provide us a link to the page where you see 0 counts?

For the other question, ShareThis does not “see” the actions that take place inside the network (e.g. the mentions in twitter) and at this point twitter does not provide an API for us to get that data. The only option is to set the widget to use native counts. This means that the number displayed in the button will be the number reported by Twitter and not the one tracked by ShareThis. The downside is that your ShareThis Analytics (the reporting system you can use to see sharing trends and insights available here: https://sharethis.com/publishers/metrics-dashboard#home) will no longer match the numbers you see on your page. Thanks for following up. We have not updated the plugin code in the last days and there should not be any reason for it to behave this way. I’ve checked it on several other sites and sharing works fine.

Also, it looks like some of the issues were resolved upon rechecking the preferences, but not all of them. At this point, the easiest option is to reinstall the plugin. If you are still experiencing issues, please contact us at [email protected]. One of our engineers will help you debug the issue.

The code on your page looks strange. It might be because you have not configured the list of services correctly.

Take a look at this article: https://support.sharethis.com/customer/portal/articles/446440. It shows how you can configure the list of services (step 3). Please note that google+ and facebook like are added using the relevant checkboxes (see step 4).

While we are still working on improving the system, you should no longer see counts with dropped numbers.

I’ve just checked the URL provided by calvin_ngan: https://www.geckoandfly.com/3356/microsoft-fax-software-how-to-send-free-fax-online-via-computer-and-email/. The counts look good.

If you continue to see issues on your sites, can you please email us at [email protected] with more information on which URLs have been affected and what is the count difference?
