Forum: Fixing WordPress
In reply to: locked out of loginThank you so much ??
In fact the plug in installation knew it did not install properly and somehow foresaw there was a problem. Email instructions on what to do were waiting for me this morning ??
I will try them this evening … just to see what will happen.
I figured that the database might have the files there I just did not know how to grab them … I will follow your advise too before I try to fiddle with the email fix.
If I can at least grab the files it will save me about a week of data collection and authoring.
Actually I know better than to not back things up but got lazy ??
You have a good day and thank you again.

In reply to: Problem with "new post" textbox jumpingesmi … thank you.
I have not tried to deactivate all plugins since the problem started without any plugins way back when I first got wordpress.
I will however try all of your suggestions … if any of them work I will report back with the specifics ??
If not I will continue looking.
Again thank you for your time ??

In reply to: Problem with "new post" textbox jumpingI guess I just happen to be one of the lucky ones ??
To bad for me … otherwise it would be a perfect program.
Instead it is 2 or 3 times a day … a struggle that causes me to waste about an hour scrolling back and forth to find my next sentence, word, image or video.
Maybe someone else will chime in that has had the problem and solved it.Anyway thanks for your comments.

In reply to: Problem with "new post" textbox jumpingSorry that is about 200 words for 30 lines.
This particular article was 644 in total.
I would say my average article is between 600 and 800 sometimes 3 times a day.

In reply to: Problem with "new post" textbox jumpingAnything past about 800 words. That just gets past the scrollbar textbox limit set at 30 lines.

In reply to: Problem with "new post" textbox jumpingIt happens on IE8 with XP pro, IE9 Windows7 as well as FireFox last 2 versions ??
Like I said it is an ongoing problem now for about 3 years.
Only with a blog that gets daily long articles and at least 2 wordy authors it is an extremely annoying problem.I am using TinyMCE Advanced plug-in … in HTML mode.
My other author is using Visual because he does not know HTML.I also have encountered the problem myself in Visual mode.

In reply to: Home linked outside WPFound it.
Just in case someone else runs into this problem or others here do not know the fix.
I went into the header.php of my theme.
In the section for the navigation under the php call:
<?php art_menu_items(); ?>
I simply added list items for the links I wanted outside the blog itself. You can see this functioning at:
https://judyaskinsdesigns.com/blog/
This website is still under construction.
All of the top level navigation (where pages go) is now linked to the main site itself.WordPress has solved requests from business clients who want an easy Blog for their site that matches their own domain look.

In reply to: Transfer blog to WordPressThank you whooami,
Ever grateful to you ??
Seems like someone has filled my site with warez links while my back was turned.
I am in hopes WordPress will be more secure.
Again thank you!

In reply to: blog eaterIt does not appear this person is reproducing your post they are simply posting short blurbs and sending the reader to your own original article.
It looks as thought they are driving more viewers to your page. Do you find that disagreeable?

In reply to: Can I set a Fixed Font SizeHere is a little trick I use when I am working on someone else’s site to help them fix something.
At the top of your browser got to view … view source … open it in your text editor. Scan down the doc and find the area where you think you have a problem.
It will give you the exact location of where that is defined in the CSS file.
Then go to your CSS and change whatever it is you want to change, add or subtract.
I have noticed the skins/themes to many of these software’s i.e. blogs, forums etc split their docs up and then present them as a single view which makes it rather hard to find what governs what.
I think this method will help you figure out what controls what if you are not use to a lot of HTML or CSS.
Of course ALWAYS BACK UP your original docs (I save masters to my own HD) just in case you really mess something up ??
Good Luck,

In reply to: [Plugin: WP-CopyProtect] Waste of timeGood job. You tried and as long as it works for you it does not matter who else uses it.
I have been a web designer for over 15 years … the thief will find a way … the unknowing will be detoured … the ethical will ask and give credit.
Every little bit helps ??
