If you look at the resume page on my site you will see what I did for static pages which use the same template and CSS as my journal.
I stripped index.php of the ‘content’ section and seperated it into header and footer files, then just use php includes for the html pages.

emerson geek: try this for your rewrite base: /home/emerso4/public_html/
put your .htaccess file in the directory your journal is in..
I think that should work

Thanks for the suggestions. I hadn’t even thought about adding css classes to take care of it.
I added a #pic-post and a #pic-header for padding and position of the image, and to make a heading for the picture, which also pushes the rest of the text down beneath the pic.

allusion: look right or not, it’s the only thing that worked. It took me hours of scouring google to find someone who knew the solution. It has something to do with the way ipowerweb has their server set up. I don’t know if it is a FreeBSD thing or an Ipowerweb thing. Something to do with the rewrite engine being outside of the public site root. I don’t know why, but it solved the problem

beel: If I go much higher on #rap, I end up with horizontal scroll bars(definately don’t want that). I think the problem is with the cloud image, because the actual menu text isn’t being cut off just the boder on the right side of the picture right?
anon: anything larger for rap results in the menu being misplaced to the bottom of the screen or in horizontal scroll bars, neither of which I want.
If someone can play around with it and find a fix I would be happy to use it, perhaps Nuclear Moose or Pankaj will have some luck

What is the problem with drop shadows on graphics? For example, I use drap shadows on graphics such as my logo, not because everyone else is, but because they add some DEPTH. Rather than a completely flat and sterile appearance. Take a look at the edges of this forum colum, what do you see? Without a shadow it would be one indistinguishable nondimensional mess..
That being said: Who gives a damn about design anyway? If I am not looking at a website about art, or photography, or cartoons.. I really couldn’t care what the design looks like.
Do I use yahoo mail because they have a killer layout? No I don’t even look at the layout.

What do you think it should be? When I make it smaller it really throws everything off

Beel: I have been trying to, but when I can’t figure out what to set the width at, so the right menu lands at the right edge of the screen.
I end up pushing the menu down below the body. If you have any suggestions I’d appreciate it. I’m fairly new to css and xhtml.
Right now for width I have:
Left menu: 10%
Rap: 80%
content: 65%
Right Menu: 20%

using flashfxp trying to send a raw chown I get a 500 error
