Got it to work. I was able to configure the server settings (through my Hsphere Panel)for this specific domain to enable php. The other three domains were set correctly. Cant figure why it was missing on this one. Thanks for your help.

I get exactly your problem (Open or Save) in I.E. but in Firefox the install.php code is displayed and no install occurs.
Is there something wrong with a file in this new 2.5.1 version?
I had no problem with the 2.5 version.

When I changed blog to Blog I now get a new result. It now displays the code for the install program rather than run it.

I forgot to include host name on last post.
    It is sql6.hosting365.ie

    Url is mulgrew.org/Blog.

It seems to say that there is no proper wp-config file yet it is there as far as I see.

    Any thoughts?

Started from scratch and loaded a brand new installation and used the old config file and I never needed to use the upgrade link. I got to click on an ‘update button’. Much easier.

Fixed it………….. Found an old backup of the folder that WP was in. Verified that all my names were correct – they were. Renamed that folder. Made a new blank folder same as original name. Uploaded complete 2.5 folders and files to it. Uploaded old config file. Adjusted it to have new dbuser password which I had changed. Went to my website and clicked on Blog link and presto it worked. It then asked me to click a link to upgrade database. That seems to be O.K.
I may hit other problems but at least this one is put to bed.

As a former programmer I will offer a suggestion to all who write operating instructions….
Stay away from a letter type format… so often the key item is lost in a sea of words.(e.g. preserve config file)

I always preferred to use a linear point form sequence.

That said I really do appreciate all those who assist on fora such as this one. We would all be lost if we had to deal with manufacturers help lines.

Again thanks to all who offered assistance.

Got it to do the upgrade process. I rewrote the config file and used the actual host address rather than ‘localhost’. I then went to my cpanel and changed the password for the user_name.
Now I do not get the error when I operate the upgrade page.
However … now when I try to access my blog on my site I get a single message….
‘error establishing a database connection’ … no mention of anything regarding user, password, host etc.!

I assume this is a different problem.

Thank you. Got the user name and data base name from there. Exactly where can I locate my password? In the database or where?
    Thanks.
