    4 Months and this is still a big problem

    4 months, 1 week ago
    I am still perplexed.
    using the plugin before the latest update.
    I have a page on my site, displaying a large list of links with a robust and elegant categorization scheme …
    Now – the page is broken and blank
    with a “no categories found” message
    OK – I get it that you have an option where I can downgrade to the old plugin …
    but WHY ?? Why have you eliminated the categories?
    And when I export – there are no categories …
    I spent YEARS collecting those links and categorizing them …!!
    what is the sense of having all those links inside your plugn – without any kind of method to categorize them for display.
    I must be missing something, right?
    At the very least, I’d like to recover my categories so I can export – and DO something else with the links list.

    Thanks

    Thank you !!

    I have the same issue …
    and it seems to be recent (up until recently – the form worked fine … and I have not made changes to the form, configuration or my email addresses for 2 years!) …

    perhaps this is a new bug due to a wordpress update or contact 7 plugin update?

    as of today – contact 7 no longer sends me emails…and
    as the OP states …
    Contact Form 7 says 1 configuration error found.

    with no other indication as to what is wrong.

    Again – I will state – the contact form remains unchanged since I first set it up 2 years ago (nor have the email setup changed).

    A couple of comments:

    hacking the CSS (at least for something as ‘integrated’ as this slider) is not always a matter of changing a few classes & attributed).

    As an earlier post pointed out, the slider part of this theme is based on a broader (non-wordpress) web template. This means that tweaking the classes and attributes may have unintended (or no) affects.

    That being said, for those wanting to really tweak this theme… I recommend one of these two approaches (or both):
    1.really dive into using “firebug” (or some other similar tool) so you can see ALL of the CSS classes being used for the slider.
    2.and/or modifying your images, as one recent poster stated, using any number of simple image editing tools.

    Personally, I’m doing a little bit of both.

    Actually I didn’t know it was built with bootstrap until I saw some of the classes.

    While this is of course useful (and would have been useful to know from the get-go), and there are some classes I can discover … the theme (particularly the slider) is somewhat tightly integrated with wordpress so it’s not a silver bullet to making this work. But if anyone has any insights, I too would be happy to seem them posted.

    PS- I am not an expert – I just know enough to know when I am talking to an expert or know when I am being BS’d by one.

    Well, to fine tune the slider takes *some* extra CSS experience and tweaking some other CSS classes. I am tweaking a few extra ones myself.

    The problem is that this slider mechanism in Customizr is pretty simple in the way it handles the slider (thus it makes it more complicated to customize it) – as evidenced by how complicated it is to even choose the photos for the slider. The problem is that the photos are meant to BOTH be used for “featured” graphics for posts (smaller) and for the huge slider area. This means that for most – it is stretching the photos quite a bit for the slider. So, if you *really* want to customize the slider, you should be creating very very special graphics just for the slider – or really doing a lot of customizing of CSS classes.

    I am trying to investigate all the other classes that might need to be tweaked to make it perfect (but I am also considering creating custom slider graphics to make it simpler. I’ll post any new custom css code that I create.

    Thanks… No, it doesn’t make me feel that much better because the issue I had (when I complained) was about “advice” that was more self-serving for the poster that actually helpful for the person asking the question. Most often this advice is from people who either did read the question thoroughly (and are answering some other question), or just from those [Remark moderated – Please don’t be nasty]. There aren’t many of those, but enough to be annoying, and to waste a lot of time.

    @nataliepee
    I use is a WordPress plug-in called “My Custom CSS Options”… Which allows me to add just the CSS I want from the WordPress dashboard.

    I’m still playing with the Customizr theme CSS classes… But right now here’s what I have in my custom CSS:

    .carousel-inner {height: 240px;}
    .carousel-caption {height: 60px; vertical-align: top;}

    I still have a few more tweaks and probably a few more other classes to modify before it really looks nice, but this is the start I would personally looking for from this forum.

    here’s the answer:

    .carousel-inner {height: 220px;}

    this CSS addition allows you to adjust the height. I poked and found it … but it would have been easier if the developer (or someone who really knew) could have chimed in

    Issue is closed. Hopefully others can see it and save time.

    I am working from my ipad right now, and will try to tweak the theme tonight. I will report back here once I have tried it and then close the thread,.

    I have no problem setting up a child theme (and fiddling around to find the proper CSS) – in fact it would take me less time than debating here… but if Customizr doesn’t use a CSS class for the slider height, I am not sure how much sense it makes for me to change it, in a child theme (since there is no class/height-attribute for me to override).

    My main reason for staying on this particular forum is to make it a little better for the next person .. too often I have found interlopers (and yes, even moderators) tossing out quite irrelevant advice (do they get some sort of brownie points just the the number of posts?!)

    Seriously … “use firebug” does not help *anyone* (unless the specific question is “I’m new to this, how do I see the CSS and HTML for the theme I am using?”)

    When people have a specific problem or question, generic answers are particularly frustrating (no answers are better than vague answers or answering a question that wasn’t asked).

    For the record – no one here asked how to view CSS code in general (so links to firebug or inks to w3schools were unnecessary at best and condescending at worse). The question specific was about adjusting the height of the Customizr theme slider, and asking which css class names were used, so I could override/change them).

    If the answer is “I don’t know”, then there really is no need to post anything. If the answer is “not possible” or “contact the developer directly” then OK.

    Feel free to ban me or flame me for this – but I can tell you my venting is something that many others on these forums feel too.

    Sorry to you too…. because this is exactly where I got the plugin (theme, actually) from … downloaded from within my wordpress (.org) dashboard. And the support link brings be to this very forum.
