Got it figured out on my own. Actually it was pretty easy once a video of a plugin widget, Dropdown menu widget.

I didn’t use the widget, but the concept was the same. Go to your admin panel, Appearance, menu settings. Create a new menu name then add your pages and to make a drop down slide the page to the right under the page you want as the parent page. Watching the video is easier. Then save menu, be sure to update the Primary Navigation area and save to activate the new menu.

Sure wish there was better documentation or easier to find documentation to do this stuff. Especially when the process changes from version to version.

I’m by no means an expert, just a couple of things to try till someone more knowledgeable than me comes along. From what you described you did, the permalinks should work. Did you click the “Update” button? Obvious, I know, but I forget to do that sometimes.

Another thing you can try is manually type in the “myurl.com/about-us”, instead of using the link, to see if the page is actually there.

Have you had any luck yet afaraonegt? I’d like to remove the WP branding, just haven’t had the time to dig very deep to take it out. Is the site you’re working on up live, I’d like to check it out and see what’s possible. Like I mentioned before, I’m new to WP and trying different plugins as I have time. One thing I’d like to change is the widgets on the side so every page doesn’t have the same content.

Ahhhh… that looks to be it, but now the blog page says domain.com/blog-2/ in the URL instead of simply ‘blog’. Can I fix that in the permalinks setting somehow?

I too wish Doug would of responded back. I’m new to wordpress and he has done a few things with his theme that I’ve been trying to figure out. I see you found the static page concept, which was what I was going to suggest. Since it is static, not sure if it would automatically import the most recent news. I think you would have to do that manually and then link to the rest of the article, like Doug did for his services and personal-work pages. But I don’t know, yet, how he achieved that. Sorry I’m no help, but I’m hoping someone replies also. In the meantime if I figure it out, I’ll chime back in. Here’s my twentyten theme and what I bumbled through so far.
