In reply to: Now this here, is a Strange one….I don’t know why I even bother in here anymore….
ever heard of widgets?
I cannot control what those people write.
and the template isn’t mine either…
Like I said, this forum is a waste. I asked a simple question, that has a simple answer and I get someone who is more interested in furthering his purist doctrine of XHTML.
What a trip..
Thanks for wasting my time, again…

In reply to: importing my blog from an old WP installNo, the PHP.INI is not part of WordPress. It’s part of PHP.
Yeah, after I sent that, I thought about it, yep, that’s not accessible, I’m on shared hosting.
Possibly, but realistically, there’s a better way.
You say that your export file is 11.7 megs. Trying to import that will be a nightmare no matter how you slice it, you need to trim it down. Fortunately, it’s easy to do.
Open the export file in a decent text editor. I like TextPad myself. You’ll notice that the file is sorta like an RSS feed. It’s the same basic format with some extensions. But the important point is that all the content of each Post is held inside an “item”.
So, remove the items you already have in the DB. This will reduce the size of the file, right?
Also, if needed, you can split the file into two files, by making a copy of it and removing some items from one and some items from the other, then import them separately.
Use your imagination, the file is a text file and easily edited and fairly straightforward to do.
Yeah, I’ll have to give that a try… Nice Idea… thanks for your help… ??

In reply to: importing my blog from an old WP installHow did you save them? Using phpMyAdmin or the WordPress Manage->Export
Export
If you are having problems with Manage->Import->WordPress then see if you can up the PHP upload limit in php.ini.
That’s in wordpress, correct? Where do I look? Never did it before.

P.S. I was able to restore from a SQL Database Back up. But it was from Decemeber 5… I’d like to be able to put the ones from December 5 till now… Is wordpress smart enough to reject the dupes and keep the one’s it needs?

In reply to: Memo to Alex King: FIX YOUR PLUG-IN PLEASE!just ask all the ex-employees of Automattic. who quit because of some of founders antics. and because the immaturity.

In reply to: Memo to Alex King: FIX YOUR PLUG-IN PLEASE!Yup and that’s the kind arrogance that causes many people not to even want to use WordPress. Until you all get off that arrogant attitude. WordPress will be what it is. A CMS system for Amateur Bloggers and for those who are too cheap to buy a real CMS system.
just a thought.

In reply to: Memo to Alex King: FIX YOUR PLUG-IN PLEASE!Further more, the Plug in DOES care about what category you use. That is what it uses to pick which heading it goes under.

In reply to: Memo to Alex King: FIX YOUR PLUG-IN PLEASE!Yes, I am sure. You totally misunderstood what I said. Go back and reread it.
The articles are appearing where they are supposed to be. AND ARE APPEARING UNDER A CATAGORY WHERE THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO, ONE I DID NOT CHOOSE!
example:
All Articles under the heading of Politics are supposed to be there…
All the articles under JOBS are NOT supposed to be there. No, I did NOT select the jobs catagory at all. Why can’t people just believe me, when I say, that I didn’t do something, why do you Plug-in authors and support people just assume that we Blog owners are stupid?
