Thank you again Siobhan, I set up a child theme, that’s why I was surprised that this update affected my site. Thank you for the CSS, I have used it, however the image is still of a lower resolution than it was before the update, I’ve set it to 80% which looks fine but if you can resolve the issue I’ll take your advice on a permenant fix.

Hi Siobhan, I do like Sela- a lot, it means a lot to me to have a website again! I’m currently using a child theme which took some doing;) Your advice is perfect that’s done the job thank you, I don’t intend to add any content to that area but lets say you wanted to pad that area out a little bit (leave a little more space between the menu bar and the widgets), is there CSS I could use for that?

Fixed it, didn’t have my menu set to primary.

This is not working on my website chriswalshart.com, I’m editing the CSS in Jetpack, I’ve edited some CSS previously to change colours which worked fine, this has no effect though any ideas why? I also can’t change the colour of the dots either with the relevant CSS
