Another thing I noticed is that every image is uploaded multiple times in different dimensions, as you can see here on my webhost interface ftp:

Is that normal? Maybe this is causing the problem…

Now I have just exported my pages, including the photography page: https://chrisontour84.wordpress.com/photography/

Hoping that it would get this right at least, I then imported the pages on a new test WP install and even then, for a page with about 15 pictures, only the first 6 of them are imported and the rest is ignored: https://test.chrisontour84.de/photography/

I really dont understand why the tools are not even handling such small files?

Yes, I have followed the guide and am pretty certain it is a problem with the export tool from wordpress.com.

Even just exporting / importing my Photography page only, it already starts to mess up pictures: https://chrisontour84.wordpress.com/photography/

I was thinking that the import/export tool has problems with a lot of data but even this very small amount of data is too much to handle already. Are there no other tools?

Little update before i go to bed finally.. i kept on importing the 4 files and the first one now tells me that everything exists already. The 2nd one keeps importing media files and now I actually have 3500 in the new setup vs 3400 in the old! looking at my webhoster, it looks like each picture is sometimes uploaded 6-7 times in different dimensions. Another behavior i odnt understand.

But despite having more pics now, the posts are still broken. I really hope somebody can help out with this ??

Oh I finally got something other than a blank white page! seems like a lot of stuff cant be imported and it says “Failed to import Media “DSC07506” a lot of times.

Is there any best practice on how to export and then import files from a nearly 5 year old wordpress.com blog?

Hm ok thats sad. I agree that using a differnet one makes sense, is there any that looks similar to the choco perhaps?

So now i left the white page open but still only got 38 out of 181 posts imported.. am I the only one with this problem?
