In reply to: Media Manager Usability Issue (RC43.5)Any media uploaded to a post has the post’s ID as its parent, just as any media that has been any way “attached” to a post does.
its not a issue weather the media actually gets attached but rather that there no way to tell whats been attached in the post like pervious versions of WordPress, isnt the point of the new media system to improve how users can manage media?
You can use the Unattach plugin for this.
you shouldnt need a plugin to unattach
either way Im done with this

In reply to: Media Manager Usability Issue (RC43.5)In this case Im taking about other media, not images, and for stuff thats not actually inserted into the content rather than attached to the post.
So in 3.4 if you upload a series of mp3 files you’d get a “gallery” tab like https://d.pr/i/8l0L where you can see what media was attached to the post and delete it etc.
but in 3.5 with the new media manager it doesnt actually show whats been attached so I have a post with media that I can pull with my theme, but the user has no idea whats actually attached to the post, nor do they have an option of deleting the attachment from the post, the only way I can see to remove an attachment is to completely delete it from the media library

In reply to: Media Manager Usability Issue (RC43.5)It’s the same. To populate “Uploaded to this post”, we query for everything attached to that post.
its not the same, for example I upload 5 mp3s to a post but only actually attach 1, it shows all 5 under “uploaded to this post” and theres no way to differentiate weather its just been uploaded or its actually attached to the post
