I made the change in the CSS file, which in turn removed the padding and border (set to 0) around the image, but it still looks like I am getting some kind of border.

On this page I experimented by adding a simple image (.gif) in the right sidebar and you’ll see it looks like it has a border and a grayish background. The image I uploaded has a white background. How do I get this (and future) images to appear with looking like there is a box around it?

Yes I am working with the child theme already so I will try this change to the CSS file that I have in the child theme folder.

I am in my style sheet making edits to the CSS and at the tops it says ” Theme is broken : Template is missing

I didn’t move or touch any files except the CSS and I am working in a child theme. Nothing is looking skewed on the site, so what does this mean?

I tried these methods but it did not change the spacing of the lines of text.

I Ftp’d the CSS files and header.php files to my local computer and am trying to edit the css there. I created a very simple Photoshop mock up of exactly what I need the site to look like and I built that with the WP framework in mind so there is nothing fancy going on. Header 1024 X 250px
navigation with some sub pages #333 color
Left content is main content with some text and one photo and lower on the page is six linkable widgets of varying topics. The right side is a simple one column sidebar.

Thank you. If the reason for having a child theme installed is to not make changes to the core style sheets then I am confused as to where I should be making these edits? Am I copying portions of the main style sheet and then placing that portion inside the child theme style sheet and making the edits there?

Now that I have the banners working correctly I need to find the component that controls the spacing of the text that I am creating as I add content. It looks like everything is double spaced and I need to change that. Can you steer me in the right direction?

I opened the discussion last week by stating I am new to WordPress but not new to web design. I have been building static sites for over 5 years, Yes, when I downloaded any widgets, I activated them.

Widget Admin?????? This is why I walked away from WordPress like three years ago. It isn’t a learning curve…it’s a mountain….without a peak. Ugh.

If I open a certain page in my site say ABOUT, and then I click edit page >appearance, then > widgets… what am I looking for or HOW do I assign a widget to a page??

I followed your instructions and that worked fine….BUT…when I went to add a DIFFERENT header to different page, the code for the about us page appears in the page banner widget, even though I am editing a different page (email marketing page) As I mentioned earlier I am looking to have different headers on every page.

I only unchecked the wp header on every page after you brought it my attention a few posts back. I guess I am unclear as to what mechanism triggers a plugin to work on a given page. Let me explain. On your site’s celestial lite’s tutorial page it instructed me to download an “advanced text widget”. After I did that then I opened the “front page top 1” widget and then dragged the “advanced text widget over inside the front page top 1, worked the code a little inside once I copied the url to the image and life was grand.

That being said…now that I’ve downloaded (and activated) the display widgets as you mentioned, how do I get that to cause a change on my about us page, or any page I decide to use it on as I don’t see it listed on my widgets tab?
