I have deactivated all plugins except Events Manager and reverted to Twenty Twelve theme, but I get exactly the same behaviour when adding a new recurring event.

In reply to: s2Member-List shortcode not workingCould it be that [s2Member-List /] is only available in the Pro version? It isn’t clear from the documentation.

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingUmmm…
My EDD has a ‘Purchase’ button, which adds to cart. Then from the cart you click a second ‘Purchase’ button to go to Paypal (after checking the ‘EU VAT Compliance Confirmation’ box). I don’t have a ‘Buy Now’ button that goes straight to Paypal from the product page. Is that a different setup from the default?
Even then, I still don’t follow what you are saying about what happens if you get to the checkout – then what? Can you still purchase from there? The sale is not blocked? At what point does the message about not selling to EU appear?

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingThat’s great, thanks Mika. I’ve updated mine now ??
“…disables any ‘buy now’ buttons, and forces you to check out normally and click the button.”
That sounds like a contradiction, to me… ? What button is there to click if the ‘buy now’ button is disabled?

In reply to: [Visual Recipe Index] Tim thumb errorHi,
I looks like a response isn’t forthcoming, so I’m posting to say, for anyone else reading this who has encountered the same problem, it seems that Timthumb has the problem, not the plugin itself, which works fine when the URL doesn’t have a Tilde “~” in it.
However, the presence of the Timthumb script, now that it is being dropped as a security risk by Woo Themes and in no longer supported even by the owner of Timthumb, is a deal-breaker for me, so I have deactivated Visual Recipe Index plugin and now use Content Views instead, which does a good job, too.

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingHi Mika,
I don’t understand much of the above about different options for checking IP but does it mean there may be an update to your plugin at some point?
Will you announce it here, if so?
Thanks,
Chris

In reply to: [Visual Recipe Index] Tim thumb errorYes, it is, with permissions 0755.
Note –
Having Googled the problem, I saw that there was a problem in 2012 with Timthumb and sites under development using a preview URL that included a tilde character (which mine does). I tried the code fix they suggested, but it didn’t work. I then wondered what would happen if I had the site live, with a proper domain pointed at it so the URL wouldn’t have the tilde.I have built a testbed site on the same server, in a different folder, which is a different website for which I already have a domain name pointed at it (I’m not using the site at the moment, so it is sort of ‘spare’). This copy of WordPress with the Visual Recipe Index plugin does work OK – it displays the thumbnails as expected.
Maybe this is the solution – to wait until the real site is live? Not everyone has a spare live site to test the plugin like I just did though! ??
Is the tilde problem with Timthumb a known issue still?
I also see that Timthumb was officially discontinued last October, due to its checkered history with security issues. Do you have any comment about the future use of Timthumb in your plugin/

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingSounds wonderful, Mika! (Though you’re starting to lose me…)
I look forward to reading the documentation when you have it ready!
Thanks for putting so much time into this – it could help some of us a lot ??

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingI see (I think!)
It is hard to make it look pretty, isn’t it?
So – manually adding buttons – is that by adding button code at the end of the product description? So there ends up being two buttons visible – the manually-inserted one and the EDD Purchase button (which may or may not be disabled, depending on the action of the IP check)?
So that would need some instructions before the buttons to explain why there is a choice of two buttons, and emphasising that they should use the second one if it’s working… hmmm, nice ??
You can imagine what we in the UK think of the masterminds in the EU Commission….

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingThat’s a lot of attempts to find the address – I agree you can’t do much better, under the circumstances.
When you say at the end it disables the BUY NOW button, is that in the scenario where you haven’t been able to tell where the customer is located, so it’s not safe to sell to them in case they *are* in the EU (even though they could be in the US, for example) so, to fail safe, you block the sale anyway?
If so, is it possible to allow the user to add an alternative code snippet at that point, which redirects the customer to another site (such as Payhip https://payhip.com/, or Digitalgoodsstore https://www.digitalgoodsstore.com/) so that the customer can at least buy the file, albeit at a platform that charges the vendor a commission?

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingHi Mika,
Thanks again. I’m just being a bit thick – I have no history of % success/fail with my site, as it’s only the 2nd day of operation and no ‘real’ sales yet – so I’d hoped you could give me a rough idea of how likely it is that the plugin will detect an address correctly?
I just thought it sounded like you had found that it was not working at all – clearly you believe it will work most of the time – maybe 95% of the time?

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingThanks, Mika,
Though I am puzzled – are you saying that the whole plugin is not working to block anyone anywhere in the EU – because the Host.info is what you used and that isn’t working?
So the plugin is effectively useless at the moment? (apart from the self-declared tick box, I mean)

In reply to: [Prevent EU Checkout for Easy Digital Downloads] HostIP.info not workingHi Mika,
Now we are into Jan 2015 I can see that the plugin does not seem to block EU visitors at all. We just had someone in Germany try and they were not blocked.
The site is https://abwoon.org/online-store/audio-downloads/
Any idea what I may have done wrong?
