In reply to: Moving my blog to new host and domainThanks Songdogtech for your continued help. I now have my front page up and running at
https://www.freethinker.org.uk
but none of the links work.
Database is apparently in place, but I guess something is set wrong.

In reply to: Moving my blog to new host and domainDo I have to install wordpress from scratch in order to migrate my existing account? That seems in contradiction to what all the other walkthroughs are telling me…I have backups of files and databases.

In reply to: Moving my blog to new host and domainOk I went into my cPanel and went to backups and uploaded the whole load of stuff, but the folder name seems to be the old blog name.
How do I make sure I put it in the right place and give it all the right name in the new cPanel?
What do I do with these names, usernames and password?
Where in the php file do I put them?
I opened it using notepad and it came out like a load of symbols.
I think I really need someone to help me through this step by step if anyone is willing?
I have Google Chat, MSN, Skype if anyone can help.
If its as simple as it sounds I guess it won’t take more than 10 minutes or so. I would be very grateful to anyone willing to help.
Cheers

In reply to: Moving my blog to new host and domainYes, I read that one too. But there is no mention of how to edit the PHP files, or what to to with the PHP databases on my new host’s cPanel.
I was hoping for a line by line type of walkthrough, such as the ones you find that solve Linux problems for noobs.
This is totally alien territory for me!

In reply to: Moving my blog to new host and domainUpdate: I think that THIS is the kind of plan I need to follow, but I still don’t understand the following:-
how to edit the PHP
how to use the PHP thing on my new host control panelThese steps are mentioned in all the walkthroughs but its all a bit over my head really.
I have the backup of files, and the database, but don;t want to make a wrong move because I am worried about screwing things up.
