Agreed, this is a really obtrusive and unwelcome abuse of WP admin notices.

Ouch, this is a pretty catastrophic bug which did more damage than the hack I was cleaning up. Hooray for backups.

I’ve run into this same problem. I ended up stripping out the wp125ad class because I can’t spend any more time hunting for a solution.
