Len I feel your frustration.
I can’t load it either but I have gotten further than you. Your data base is made in the server. In my case I am simply trying to load WP on my machine to see if I can use it (it is starting to look like this is not what it is hyped up to be, EZ)
any way, I have installed a local server on my machine. I have tried both wamp and Xzmpp and you have to create the data base and then put the name of the data base in wp-config.

I followed the instructions and went well until I put
https://localhost/wordpress/wp-admin/install.php.

When I put this in the address bar and hit enter I get this:

Object not found!
The requested URL was not found on this server. If you entered the URL manually please check your spelling and try again.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.
