1. Shortcodes

I have spent a lot of time reading this forum and your documentation and I am still having trouble understanding, especially you last answer and the logic of shortcodes. Here is my understanding or wishful thinking.

• I want to build a nice for for every category using Elementor.
• I want to have image galleries bur different from yours.
• I want to design this rather freely.
• I want to entter a shortcode inside a containter displaying “Characteristics”
• In a different container I want to show a shortcode for “Availability calendar”.
• In a third container, I want to offer your nice “Select a Check-in and Check-out Date” widget/form.

Regardless of the fact I still have to learn how to create all these shorcodes: Is my understanding right? Can this be achieved?

2. Modal Popup

Also: In your preview of available rooms (after I have selected dates and so on), I see a small photo gallery which I can swipe. Fine. Then, there is a “+” which opens up a popup. Can this “+” and the functionality be deactivated?

3. The “select button”

If someone selects a room from the search results, he is again getting an overview about the room. It is below the search bar and above the “Characteristics”. Can I chenge the desing of that very section? I understand that this is the text and phots which I provided in the rooms list. Can I insert some other design like an Elementor section?

4. Shortcodes to pages

I do not understand why I have to create “pages” in order to show shortcodes. I am trying really hard here but I have trouble understanding your documentation as well as the demo. This is totally confusing to me. Shortcodes are usually not pages? Aren’t shortcodes like “modules” in JOOMLA?

Thank you for helping me. I am sure, it all makes sense in the end. I have wokred with WordPress for 15 years and I am surely not a noob, but this is really hard for me.

UPDATE: I managed to translate it. What I do not understand:

• There seem to be some strings I cannot translate. In the multitask panel, I still have English titles like “Virtual Terminal”, “Latest Events”, “notification center”, “rate flow” and then all German titles i translated in between. How do I translate the missind words? Also the “search widgets” field label?
• I have checked out your helpful demo. If I click on a room category, I enter a subpage, for example: https://vikwp.com/demo/vikbooking/rooms-list/hostel-dorm/ I would love to design these pages myself, also using my own image galleries and so on. On that page, you have information like “Starting From € 20” or the Characteristics icons, the “Availability Calendar” and ” Select a Check-in and Check-out Date”. Are there shortcodes I can use to pull this data from VikBooking or “synamic data” (I am using Elementor)?
• On our old system, if I have a minimum stay range of for example three days, if someone clicks the 12th, the 13th and 14th are greyed out as departure dates. It looks in VikBooking, I can pick from 12th to 13th, search, and then get an error message on the next page? Is that true? we are afraid this might put people off. It just says “No room available”! We are certain this will irritate our clientel. Where ist it hinted that there is a minumum stay length?

Hello from Berlin! I apologize for reaching out again before we fully implement this system in our hostel. I’m really excited about the idea of revolutionizing our operations, but, to be honest, I’m also a bit nervous. That’s probably why it hasn’t happened yet…

I have a question about the process. Here’s the situation:

• We have a WordPress website that’s been up for nine years (it’s running the latest version of WordPress, of course) and it’s in need of a redesign.
• However, the redesign will take a few weeks, and we’d like to switch over to the new system in the meantime and use it on the current website if that’s possible.

Once the new website is ready, will I be able to migrate the booking system along with all our data to the new WordPress installation? How would that work? Is it a complicated process?

It would really help us to implement the new booking system first and then take our time to create the new website. Thank you so much for your amazing support and for the helpful advice I’m sure you’ll provide.

I apologize again for all my questions—I know you have thousands of customers, but for us, this is a major change that will significantly impact our daily operations. Thanks for your understanding.

Of course this helps, as always! Do you also see a way to have “extra beds” as a feature? Like you can sometimes book “extra baby beds”, only for adults? In the sense that you look for a “room for three” and get shown a “double room” with “extra bed” as a feature?
Good idea? Even worse?

I think I understand. Now I wonder: How do I call these “(not only) double room” category in VikBooking and OTAs? If I call them “triple rooms”, then people who are looking for a room for 2 will be confused if these are shown?

I am aware this is not reeeeeally your problem, but you did this way more often. How would I name this category then? I hope you solved this issue before and understand my confusion.

Hi, guys! I have more – rather easy – questions.

1. I have various single/double rooms. Some, but not all of them can have a third bed. I would like to enter them as “double rooms” in order not to create a confusing “Three bedroom room” category. If someone ist entering “3 people”, these rooms should be shown, but also naturally be sold to people how are looking for a double room. How would you solve this?
2. A similar problem with Rnsuites (rooms with own bathroom): I have some which can accommodate 2 people, some 3, some even 4. I do not want to have three catogories “Ensuite for 3”, “Ensuite for 4”, right?

How do I enter this into VikBooking’s logic?

thank you so much for your quick and extensive response. I have decided that this is too much trouble for the time being. I have to get this webpage launched into the market and will have to fix this JetElements issue at a later time with PRO.

I would like to have the Google map enabled regardless of acceptance.

I disabled the integration and I took away the MU plugin. Now, the map still does not show up while the animations are working. If I hit “accept” AND reload, the map shows up.

1. How may I achieve to have the map shown regardless of the banner? I would want ComplianZ not to interfere with this map, please. If I turn off the off the Google Maps integration under “Integrations/Services”, it does not appear. If I turn off the integration under “Integrations/Services”, click “accept” in the banner and reload manually, the map appears in Firefox, but not in Chrome. Same behaviour If I turn off the Google Maps integration under “Integrations/Services”.
2. There is still my question about Analytics: If I visit the start page and click “accept”, the visit to the startpage is not counted. Analytics only counts all pages visited thereafter. Should the page not reload to be counted properly or is there another way to make this start page visit count?

I seem to have a general problem understanding the logic. Up to this point “accept” means “The page will no longer be broken from now on” but not “okay, let me reload, count and show you the good stuff”. Can you please explain how this works?

I am sorry I took so long, I had to do a few tests in order to give a proper report and understand the problems myself.

Please let me assure you I read the documentation and watched all YouTube tutorials I could find to answer every question for myself as far as I could.

I Installed the MU plugin you provided. Now what?

• I tested everything with Chrome, no caching or accelerating plugins are activated.
• The placeholder is appearing now, but it is a rather ugly image and the button also looks bad. How may I change the appearance of that placeholder to look like my template? Under “Placeholder style” I am unable to choose anything different than “default”, all else is greyed out. I created the folder within my template folder and inserted an Image, it does not show. If I switch the “Placeholder ratio” to Custom, an empty placeholder (the grey mountain) is showing up.
• If I click “I agree”, the Google map does not appear. Only if I later click “accept” in the banner also, the Map appears. So, I have to “accept” twice, on placeholder and banner. I don’t think that’s right. This improves once I deactivate “Do you want to use ‘Consent per Service?’. But then, I still have all the options like “preferences” and “statistics” in the banner.
• If I enable “Consent per Service”, I still just get “preferences” and “statistics” in the banner. Should it not say “Google Maps”, “WhatsApp” and so on? I don’t understand how this works. SORRY. Does this “Service descriptions” section only here to create the cookie policy or can these services be listed and toggled on and off inside the Banner?
• There is another grave problem: As long as I dont “accept”, not only is the Google Map not showing, but the animated charts done with Crocobloc are also not shown! Parts of the site become broken or unlocigal (success percentage remaining at zero because the animation is blocked, for example here: https://whitestonecapital.us/real-estate-investment-sunbelt/). All charts are missing although they are not GDPR relevant. Even if I hit “accept”, I have to hit Ctrl+R two times until the graphs are showing up again. This is scaring me.
• The text inside the placeholder also makes no sense. How do I translate it and the “privacy policy” link?
• If I do not click “accept” on the placeholder but only on the banner, the map is also appearing, that seems to be right.

In the meantime, other problems/questions came up:

I am really grateful for your help. Honestly, after weeks with Elementor and WPML, these Complianz-Issues are torturing me. I am not a programmer and not familiar with CSS.

Although the page is basically done but I cannot deliver because I am trying to understand this erratic behavior. Please have mercy with me. I would happily hand over login credentials.
