First of all, I’m glad there is so much discussion going on here. Most plugin devs don’t give much thought about helping their users, Thanks Wayne

Second, I want to second the fact that the automated process does not work for me either. I can send an email with attachement and wait and browse my site all day, nothing will happen, the post will not appear.

If I then run it manually, sometimes I will get the post and sometimes it will tell me there are no emails. If I send one again and run the fetch manually right away then it sees the email.

Another thing that happens. It will often for no reason tell me the email sending is not allowed to send posts when it is actually in the list of authorized emails.
But that’s another story that Wayne knows about. ??

That’s very possible. But it seems like the code is different wether for .com or for .org. What do I know ? ??

Oh and by the way… Once imported, wordpress is soooooo slooooooow.
If I could import into Joomla, I would but there isn’t even an option for that.
I wish posterous people would have created an export function for the millions of people who MADE THEM.

Anyway. Stuck with worpress now. Better than posterous at this point.
I hope the .org people talk to the .com people at wordpress and get the importer together.

I’ve been working with people at www.remarpro.com to help them built a better posterous importer into a wordpress hosted site.
On my side of things, I’d say we are done.
All pictures, videos and audio and pdf files I had, (over 1500) all import full res into my new wordpress site.

My new site is up and running just about the way I want it.
There’s just a hickup with pictures which got rotated in posterous during the original posting so you have to go in wordpress and rotate over 50% of your pictures. I’ve realized that it depends on which camera was used to take the pictures. With an iphone, you have to rotate, with my canon, I don’t have to.
But the dev told me there’s no way around this. It’s posterous’s fault.

I hope they will release it soon. It works great and it works every time.
I must have reset and re imported my site at least 50 times.
I’m also finishing to put a tutorial on what to do to have your new wordpress site look like your posterous one.

I’m also wondering what’s going on.
I have it set to check every 10 mins also but when I send an email it won’t see it until I check it manually.
I’ve waited up to 30 minutes.

And just now I ent just one email and it double posted it when I manually checked.

Okay I got this to work. I didn’t change anything and it worked so it might have been the cache.

I’ve been going crazy trying to get my media imported into my new site but nothing works, it just keep the old links to the images and videos.

I think they want you to use their $149 export function. That’s why the free import plugin doesn’t work as it says. Ha!

Is Worpress actually supported or not ? I’ve been a joomla user and support is top notch over there but I don’t see many answers around this forum. I thought there were more users than with joomla.

I might have to go the joomla route on this new site of mine…

I’m having the same problem that you were having but when it tells me that it’s already exists, it usually replaces the media with a low res picture.
Very annoying…

I can run the importer many times and that low res won’t go away.
