Thanks for your help. The problem with this is that whilst I can alter the sidebars according to category, I cannot make the sidebar area disappear on the category page where I do not want it. Is there an easy way to do this?

For example, when building a page I can include an excerpt of a post, but I’d like to be able to include the full post in it’s completely original format, displaying in full, as it would appear on a blog page.

What I want is to put one single blog post onto a specific page, by adding it as a block. This seems like a very useful and obvious feature but it doesn’t appear to be possible. Is there any way to do it?

Correct, the view does differ depending on page. However, I’m using two separate categories as pages, and so because they are not listed in ‘Pages’, I do not have these customisation options. They are simply automatically built pages that refer to specific categories from my blog.

I am using GeneratePress

Is there a simple way to change this without losing the benefit of the pages being cached?
