Please note that it has been working for me now, for the last hour or so. Thanks for your prompt attention.

I am getting this as well. Note that (I am pretty sure) it began after I upgraded shared hosting php to 7.2.

It pretty much all worked out. In the screenshot. The only thing is there is a small little change in the step between 1 & 2 in the screenshot, where google wants you to click the 0Auth heading. After that, your documentation syncs up again with what’s actually happening. It took me a few minutes to figure out, and I think most will, even if you don’t update the documentation.

Thanks so very much for sticking with me and I am very impressed with the plugin and your support. I wish you the very best.

I talked it all over with my priest (thankfully he is pretty internet savvy) and he told me that he thought that it would work if I went ahead and that I would be absolved of all my sins if it did not work and so I went ahead and went through with my guess and it all configured nicely with little green “Success!” stuff from your wizard all over the place.

Do you know the song, Mr. Postman, from, I think, the Shirelles? Youtube it!

    Thanks.

I opted for 443 and then was directed to set up a new Client ID and Secret, and began to follow the instructions to do that.

Here is what I got, with some notes:

    https://screencast.com/t/zS8R6rzbeaw

So, I am guessing that I should just follow through and click “Create New Client ID” under the OAuth heading and get my information to cut and paste from what follows. (That’s a little different than the wizard’s instructions.)

So, I am asking the wizard behind the wizard!

I don’t want to do something wrong, blow up the internet and leave millions of google programmers broke and homeless!

Given a choice between doing things on my own and following a wizard, I ALWAYS follow the wizard! 25 was what the wizard dictated.

I am pretty sure that when I used the wizard last night that 443 did not come up as a choice, but here it is now in all its splendor!

I will install your Postman Gmail extension now and let you know what occurs.

I will turn off a bunch of these plugins and see if that cures. (edit) I ran it again with a lot of the plugins disabled. Still did not work, see following.

    Thanks, postman, for answering.

    A. Re: 1, being that I don’t know how to use the Gmail API, if I were to call Godaddy, would you imagine anyone understand what I was asking for, and then be able to change it?

    B. If the answer to above is “no”, is there a layman’s guide to using the Gmail API to resolve this?

    C. If your #2 is the issue, is there a means with dealing with this so that I could get my notifications anyway?

    D. I’ve brought this up to gravity forms before, and it is plain that this is one of the most annoying things that they deal with there, and often without success. Are you aware of a gravity forms alternative where the notification process has been successfully worked out?

The site is gateslosangeles.com. I have gravity forms set up in it that are configured to notify us through [email protected]. Both gateslosangeles.com and mulhollandsecurity.com are hosted at Godaddy, but the mx records for mulhollandsecurity are configured correctly for google apps for business.

    https://screencast.com/t/xOlbRnUxthu

Mail being sent to [email protected] is being received and being sent well, outside of facebook.

We set up gravityforms to notify us at mulhollandsecurity.com addresses and it only worked pretty good. Often the notifications just would never arrive. Gravity forms said to use yours or another similar plugin.

I have tried all the combinations of 465/ssl and 587/tls and they always say the test email failed. Am i right in thinking that the username is any username amongst our active google apps accounts and the respective password?

    Thanks.

I am having the same problems others have mentioned here: I get the “SMTP connect() failed” whenever I test the settings.

Let me post some information here and perhaps someone can assist me with this.

First of all my site is gateslosangeles.com. The email system that the site uses, however, is mulhollandsecurity.com. In other words, people coming to the gateslosangeles site are filling out gravity forms that are configured to send notifications via mulhollandsecurity.com. Both gateslosangeles and mulhollandsecurity sites are hosted at godaddy.

We are using Google apps for business for mulhollandsecurity.com so that we have the various benefits of that.

I have the mx records at godaddy configured correctly, and mail sent to [email protected] from outside of wordpress is coming to us just fine. Here is a screenshot of our mx records settings in our Godaddy acct: https://screencast.com/t/xOlbRnUxthu.

Without using your plugin, we were often getting our notification emails via the gravity forms notifications, but not always. Gravity forms support suggested your plugin.

Am I understanding correctly, that the smptp user and password would be the username and password for one of our google business accounts, yes? Like username: [email protected] and Fa1kPa66word, yes?

Every time I send a test email, it says that it failed. I have tried both the 465/ssl and the 587/tls combinations.

Thanks for being there on support!

    Thank you.

oops! It did not work until I edited wp-config as you said to do. Now that I have done that; yes, it is working. Thanks!

mmm… seems like a “real problem” to me… I guess I did not explain it well enough. Here, take a look: https://gateslosangeles.com/youtube-gate-videos/

I am getting the same thing: Warning: Missing argument 2 for wpdb::prepare(), called in /home/content/95/3351895/html/wp-content/plugins/sliding-youtube-gallery/engine/SygDao.php on line 212 and defined in /home/content/95/3351895/html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 990
