Hi guys my mod_rewrite is enabled, and it does create a .htaccess every time i change my permalinks.but it still does the same thing where if i use the default settings it works fine but as soon as i use a custom structure is comes up with the same error again.

That link didn’t really help much, I had a look at it before you posted it and it doesn’t tell you how to find it, even the other person can’t find the mod_rewrite in mamp.

Thanks guys, Im trying to find the settings to enable mod_rewrite but cant seem to find it anywhere, MAMP sucks, I usually use WAMP and I haven’t had this problem before.Dont know if you guys can direct me to where I can enable mod_rewrite?.thanks…

I have tried adding a .htaccess folder on the wordpress directory with the same type of code you suggested but it still comes up with the same error.

If think multisite sounds the ones im kind of doing, what I have done is

a folder “www” ->Contains “normal Html/CSS file” then -> created a directory called “wordpress” and placed the wordpress files in there. But the issue im having is clickin on the pages on wordpress dont seem to work?.

Sorry im kind of new to wordpress so still getting the hang of things.

Thanks for your support sorry it took time to reply, I was looking at the link that you have attached but im kind of looking to just keep wordpress for containing 2 pages which is the video gallery and photo gallery, I still cant figure out how to do it, i’ve signed up with justhost.com and using cpanel that provided, I have managed to upload my normal (HTML,CSS) document in the folder “www” and also created a folder called “wordpress” which contains the whole files for wordpress,the main homepage seems to work and when you click the button for the gallery it leads you to wordpress but as soon as you click on the page for the video gallery in wordpress it brings you back to the main homepage of just my (HTML,CSS)document which is not meant to do as its meant to go on the page of the video gallery of wordpress, i dont know if there is a conflict. Any suggestions would be great.

ok now I understand it abit more better, I have been using wamp as my local server to view the webpage before posting it up, following your comment of a live site I know this is out of the question i previously posted up but im currently stuck on uploading my website to a web hosting site i signed up with which is “justhost.com”. The confusing part im is linking a normal html/css page with wordpress and then understanding how to upload the whole thing on “justhost.com”, i’ve been trying to find tutorials that could help me but it seems like i cant find any unless im looking in the wrong place, you seem like a person to know a heck of allot about web development if you have any idea how this is done i cant thank you enough, i know i might seem like im trying to do everything to quick but im kind of short for time as this is my final year project for a degree course im doing and i only have less than a few days to complete it all, I have managed to design my most of pages in wordpress and used plugins and the final parts of my stage is the imageslider and posting the whole thing up on “justhost.com”.
As for your recommendations I will be deffinatly looking into them.

Many thanks for your help, from your comment my understanding is that if i follow the tutorial from the link i had posted it should be ok because all the pages are interlinked and so i would not need to call the script in another page, would that be right?

Thanks for you advice I have tried putting in a comment myself and seeing if it does show up but once I click on the submit comment button it looks like it just refreshes the page and does not post up the comment I have inputted.

To give you an idea of what the layout I am trying to create here is a link from a website https://www.spifftv.com/video.php?id=3801, as you’ll notice the video is at the top and the comments are posted at the bottom of it, sorry if the video is not your type of genre its the only website I know of that has the layout I am aiming to create.

I think i might have explained it wrong in my structure,

what i meant to say is that i usually follow the structure listed above when working with just html and css, but because in wordpress you have different php documents i am not sure how i can stylise a background image which wraps around the content of the webpage, i have one left content in one php document and one right content in another php document, which i need to have a background which wraps around the left and right content.

Sorry im working on a local server at the moment, what other suggestion you think i could do?.
