OK, 2nd related problem. How can I tell newly registered people how to login? The registration form has a block to check for the TOS. Expecting the TOS would be included in the registration email the site sends out, I put the login instructions ther. Unfortunately the TOS is not included in the email.
Thank you so much,
I read and set the rate limiting to the recommended settings.
If I have any other problems I will post here.
Thanks again.
OK, so I get this email that someone living in Clifton, USA has been blocked. How am I to know this is from a legit person living in Clifton, Maine, and I can safely approve the registration, or if this person lives in Clifton, NJ, VA or any other Clifton in the USA?

Manually register someone with a random password
Have them change the password
Get a notice from WF the person’s IP was blocked
Whitelist the blocked IP
Ask the person to register / sign in again
Wait to see if WF will let the person in.What should happen:
Person registers
I get a notice and activate the registration
All doneWhy does this not happen?
Thanks for your continued help.
Yes, and just got this email. The person is a member of the chapter who was manually registered but to complete the registration the random password needs to be changed. They did that but their IP address got blocked. Why?

Someone tried to recover the password for user with email address: [email protected]
User IP: 65.96.xx.3xx
User hostname: c-65-96-xx-xx.hsd1.me.comcast.net
User location: Topsham, United StatesEveryone is experiencing this problem. Please advise
Please explain. I think it says I couldn’t even register because a wrong user name was entered. I have no username restrictions. Others in our chapter can not register for the same reason.
Discovered a work around – Manually add a new user, send them a notice and let them approve the registration by changing the default password.
Will send a screen shot when blocked again. For now this is the email received blocking me from registering as a new user. My IP should never be blocked.

A user with IP addr 74.75.102.22 has been locked out from signing in or using the password recovery form for the following reason: Used an invalid username ‘Imagine’ to try to sign in.
The duration of the lockout is 2 months.
User IP: 74.75.102.22
User hostname: cpe-74-75-102-22.maine.res.rr.com
User location: Augusta, United StatesIt seems to me Wordfence is all over the place. I have the exact opposite problem, no one can register on our site, no even me, the admin, sometimes. I will be following this thread to see if a solution to your problem can be applied to mine.
I have the opposite problem but didn’t see a way to post a new question.
I am the admin of https://ffrfmaine.org but often get locked out. People I know can’t register. Had to whitelist one person’s IP address to let them register / log in.
Am registered as Admin and as a user, both from the same IP address, but just tried to register as a new user with a unique email but from the same IP address and got blocked.
Need a way to let legit users to register / log in and block spam, bots etc.
Hi,
If installed, and activated, the ultimate-member plugin will crash the site.
Will installing but not activating help you figure out what is going on?
Call Blue Host several times to regain access to the site crashed by UM.
It might be worth contacting Blue Host to see exactly what they did to recover the site.
Thanks,
Tom Waddell

In reply to: [WP-Members Membership Plugin] Registration drop down doesn’t prevent trollsHow can registration be limited to those living in Maine, NH or Mass? A honey pot will catch bots but not people living in other sates / countries.
Does WP Members have a way to exclude countries or am I thin king of another plugin?
The Pro Bundle form has an “Apply Coupon Code” field. Where are coupons available?
UM,
Did compatibility test shown on UM website. Problem persisted. Had Blue Host reset site several times but each time UM installed the site crashed.
The main reason for UM is to block trolls from registering. Can UM do this?
