In reply to: My Theme Generating this errorI have same problem. Plugin not updated causing problems. Disabling plugin returns site to normal. Will wait for Brad to update.
Thank you but I followed your and WP instructions.
I see no way to reset the permalink file other than change how page/posts URL’s look.
Went to allowing WP to change the .htaccess file but again there was no way I could find to sens WP this permission. Most of what I saw on both pages was gibberish to me.Any other way to clear up the problem? It may be related to up grading to the latest WP OP system but reinstalling that again didn’t work.
Think I found a newsletter plugin that does not a block editor – WPNewsman Lite.
Will give it a try and post a review.
Fair enough but we are not talking about how various word processors handle text, images, fonts, and text alignment.
I may be wrong but is there a word processor that uses blocks?
As bad and as proprietary MS-Word is, it is light years ahead of a block editor.
Do you know of any news letter plugins that do not use a block editor? That would be the first step.
Thanks

In reply to: Subscribers can’t login to websiteHi,
Because people had problems logging in, I manually registered all 64 members of our chapter through the WP “add a new member form”. That form sends a random password the registered user can change. When the user changes the password they get a link to login using the new password. It is at this point the user gets blocked. Not sure if WP or Word Fence is blocking the user and have posted this on the WF help forum too.
The user can only login after they change the random password if they go to our website. If they use the link to login with the new password they get blocked. Using the WP login form may not be the problem. Registered users cannot login because, I think, WF blocks them. Even I, the admin, get blocked!
The WP new member form has a TOS check box. What is it for? I thought it would send the new user our TOS so I put they must login by going to the website in our TOS but the form does not send our TOS to new users.
Thanks,
Tom
Hi Tim,

When the user changes the password they get a notice to login using the new password. It is at this point WF, I think, blocks the user.
The user can login if they go to our website but not if they click on the link to login with the new password. I think it is WF blocking users but will post this in the WP forum as well.
Thanks,
Tom

In reply to: [MC4WP: Mailchimp for WordPress] How to install MC when setup is blocked? Thanks Harish,
Finally did get MC to work but am using Newsletter now anyway. I find it less complicated, easier to use and more intuitive.

In reply to: Gutenberg: every paragraph is a block. Why?My thoughts exactly. Blocks make it very difficult to write. Even writing in Word and then pasting into WP doesn’t help. If blocks were such a good idea MS Word would be using it. Am going to download the Classic Editor plugin and see howthat works.

In reply to: Blog posts / pages are not sent to subscribers automaticallyOK, but what plugin? I just installed MailChimp and it worked, but it was WAY more trouble than sending subscribers an email.
What I want is a plugin that will automatically send content entered, either as a post or a page, to the pages: Politics & Religion, Chapter News and Foundation News.
Any thoughts?

In reply to: Need full width theme with 2 menusThanks Tammie and Tim for your help. I did find a theme, through trial and error, that worked for me. Kontrast was free, full width, accepted the full header image, supported 3 menus (only needed two) and allowed placing the menus wherever the user wanted.
Again, thanks for your help.

In reply to: Subscribers can’t login to websiteThanks, I did manually enter all the users and want to have the user change the random password to something they would like. Problem is when they change the password they can only login by going to the website, using the login link provided when one changes the password does not work. On top of that there is no way I can include instructions on how to login in the email the site sends out. I could send everyone an email but that seems a bit cumbersome.
Talk about cumbersome, subscribers should be able to register themselves, have be approve the registration and then login without a problem. That does not happen and is why I had to manually enter every user.

In reply to: Hot to automatically send blog postHi Mel,
The old WP.com site is totally closed. I manually entered all the users into the new site. How would transferring users from the old site let the new site send out new posts?

In reply to: Need full width theme with 2 menusThanks, looked at a couple of themes but then got “THEME PREVIEW – Previewing Another WordPress Blog” and could no longer see what a new theme would look like on the site. Any thoughts?
