In reply to: How to add a Digg and Del.icio.us link?thanks cinemaminima — this was useful to me ?? i didn’t want to add a plugin when i could just code it into the template
and to those wondering why, i thought it would save a query or two — but perhaps i’m wrong about that?

In reply to: WP 2.0.4 – running terribly slowly!hey oleg, in which file did you make those changes?
Forum: Your WordPress
In reply to: PopCultureShock.comi don’t think i’ve changed any of WP’s core files, so i think — and hope! — i should be fine for upgrades. granted i don’t use WP’s normal index/home page, but aside from that my changes are just stuff with the templates (mostly layout oriented) which, if i understand things correctly, are not going to cause problems when upgrading
in fact, i think if i were to get in there and code my site in pure css (rather than the tables i have in there now) any kind of upgrading or redesigns should go perfectly smoothly ??
just my take, but applicable to everyone i think

In reply to: PopCultureShock.comi should at least specify for the group though that i use and recommend the following plugins:
customizable post listings & get custom field values
https://www.coffee2code.com/wp-plugins/post templates by category
https://guff.szub.net/post-templates-by-category/image manager
https://soderlind.no/ImageManagernote that i use image manager mostly for inserting one or two images in a post; oustide of this i use ftp

In reply to: PopCultureShock.comhey cw, i don’t consider myself that technical or even a very talented designer — it’s just playing with things and weighing that against your sense of color & porportion, etc. but thanks for the kind words ??

In reply to: Banner/Ads management systemi would also like to see something like this. all the ad managers i see are for text ads. there was wp-ads — which i liked even if it didn’t have all the features mentioned above — but it doesn’t seem to work with wp 2.0+ and additionally the programmer doesn’t seem to be working on it anymore. now i’m using phpadsnew — not a plugin, but lots of features

In reply to: PopCultureShock.comhmm. i know i initially stated that this was more of a “thank you wordpress!” post than a call for critiques, but i keep seeing referrals to PCS from this thread but no additional posts, and that’s a sad feeling ?? so let me go back on what i said earlier, and to whoever hits the site up, please let me know your feedback ??
bahn: i love the integration of xdf, but it’s lacking a lot of features at this point. as far as WP as cms, i’m doing it and it works for me, but part of the reason i switched was ease, which is a big factor. in an alternate universe i might’ve gone with drupal, had i not encountered permalink probs which no one on the forums was able to shed any light on. maybe WP isn’t the best, maybe it is — but we really outgrew the custom cms i created back when, and WP was my best working solution. so far so good ??
